One month ago I left my film career in Atlanta behind to pursue filmmaking in New York. Here’s all that’s happened since:

I attended the New York film festival and saw A Long Winter, Godzilla Minus Zero, The Statement, and Behemoth. I got to enjoy this with new and old friends, meet some really cool people in the New York film industry, and watch unreleased movies months before the public.

@appletv and @cinecultured invited me to the Matchbox Movie Premiere! John Cena saw me but I couldn’t see him🤷🏻‍♂️

The Matchbox afterparty was at The Rainbow Room in 30 Rock where I met JT himself.

I attended New York Comic Con where I saw cool vendors, panels, memorabilia, costumes, and met tons of awesome people.

I got to hang out with some of the best film content creators and interviewers out there!

And watched peak (Go see Digger if you haven’t 🙏🏻)

I went to the Blade Runner 2099 after party where Amazon transformed a bar into the Blade Runner universe.

And got to chat with on of my biggest inspirations in the film community Perri Nemiroff.

I conducted my first professional interview with Amy Williams, the production designer of “Verity”. Interview clips will be posted throughout the week so stay tuned.

And most importantly got to be back home with my family and friends full time for the first time in 7 years.

Oh yea… and tomorrow I start my first job on a TV show in NYC! 🗽

When I left Atlanta, where I had spent the last two and a half years building a career in film, to move back to New York, I was so nervous because I knew I was starting over. But sometimes, taking a risk is exactly what you need to do. We are just getting started. 😎

I’m off to watch Verity for the second time after my sketch/interior design analysis, to study the space in more detail now.
In general, I am SO fascinated by production design and film sets. One of my professors back in 2018 actually mentioned that sketching is a sought-after skill in the industry. For me, it’s a skill that helps me understand ideas and turn them into reality

As for which team I’m on… LETTER. After reading the book, after watching the movie… LETTER. You?

Inside Verity’s eerie house, warm mid-century nostalgia masks a sinister tension, where dramatic vaulted timber ceilings and raw stone walls clash with razor-sharp modernism. Soft velvet sectionals, plush shag carpets, and mirror-polished chrome elements create an alluring, voyeuristic sanctuary wrapped in shadows and light.

From Pushing Pixels: "We brought the color of the stone that exists outside our house location and the color of the tile on the floors into our interiors, but we also had to make locations work so that it satisfied the story. This is a story about an author and her husband who is in real estate. So we needed bookshelves and other narrative elements. We played a lot with shape, color and nature versus humanity."

The circa 1961 designed midcentury modern house from the movie Verity… with a pink, womb-like conversation pit, surrounded by a 10 acre lake. Is it truth or fiction?

Truth: much of the movie was filmed in a real New York state house, designed in the 60s by Jens Quistgaard for Martha and Ted Nierenberg, who founded Dansk International Designs. The lake on the property is 10 acres.

Fiction: the conversation pit (and some other striking “rooms” in this house) are from the imagination and research of @amyrwilliams & talented production design team

Piero @psiberti and Nichole @nickholemarie have been helping Friends of WNYC Transmitter Park @transmitter_park upkeep and maintain this small section of waterfront along the shore of Greenpoint Brooklyn, which is one of my favorite spaces in Northern Brooklyn. I visited the friends group as they were planting native species where the water meets the shore with Todd Erickson of @coastallandscapesfi and we discussed the long wait for the greenway that is supposed to connect the entirety of Greenpoint to Williamsburg along the East River. @nycparks @thenoahsp @amyrwilliams #nycparks #parks #brooklyn #greenpoint #nyc
