Amy's Plant Based Pad Thai (Miscellaneous) [Vegan, GF]
Taste: This is a heavily Americanized, very sweet take on the dish that is polarizing among consumers. The organic rice noodles can easily become a sticky, clumped mess if microwaved improperly. The flavor is pleasant enough if you want a sweet noodle dish, but if you are expecting authentic, restaurant-quality Pad Thai, you will likely be disappointed. Personally, I loved it, but it was both very sweet and salty. 8.5/10

Nutrition: Each tray is 410 calories, providing 11g of protein, 3g of fiber, 22g of added sugar, and 1.5g of saturated fat. Cane sugar is the third ingredient—on a savory dish! Ingredient Quality: Phenomenal. Amy’s uses almost entirely organic, non-GMO ingredients, and it is fully vegan and gluten-free. It reads like real food, not a science experiment. Shockingly, the macros are actually in line with some Pad Thais that contain meat, though these are still definitely on the worse end. 4/10

Cost: The tiny 9.5 oz box typically costs between $5.00 and $6.50 depending on the retailer. Compared to standard frozen meals (like Lean Cuisine or Banquet) that cost $2.50 to $3.50, this is very expensive. Even compared to other premium frozen brands, paying around $6.00 for less than 10 ounces of food is a tough pill to swallow for a daily lunch. 5/10

Fullness Factor: This meal will leave you hunting for a snack an hour later. Volume: At 9.5 ounces, the physical footprint is very small. It looks and eats more like a side dish than a full dinner. Long-Term Satiety: With only 3g of fiber, moderate protein, and a massive dose of simple carbohydrates and added sugars (68g total carbs), this will digest incredibly fast. The resulting blood sugar spike and rapid gastric emptying practically guarantee you will not stay full for long. 3.5/10

Overall: 5.4/10
Would I Buy Again? Maybe. It is good as a lazy vegan carb source or something. It is not quite good enough for a cheat meal, but to make this a balanced meal, you would definitely have to add other stuff.

Another project with @amyskitchen for the release of their new Non-UPF certification in the books! This was my biggest single project to date and proved to be very challenging🤪. 50 pizzas and 50 bowls of mac and cheese can really take it out of ya! But they made it safely to CA where they went off to their new homes. So thankful to @chrissidwyer for finding me and to @andyman33333 for printing a custom sized cutter for making the bowls.
