the family session of my dreams ✨✨✨

I’ve been dreaming up this shoot since I first started riding, but this year, it finally felt right.

Starting a sport as an adult, after having kids, has been a whole other kind of journey. The constant battle between your body and your mind, learning to trust yourself, convincing yourself you can do this, and eventually finding the courage to step into the ring (and even win a couple of ribbons).

But somewhere between the self-doubt, the frustration, the falls and the little breakthroughs, I’ve fallen completely in love with this sport.

I’m obsessed with this session, thank you to my bestie @cpienaarphoto . It captures something that means so much more to me than just horses and riding. It represents a journey I never expected to take, a new part of me, and a milestone I’m incredibly proud of (the teenager/twenty something club goer me would never imagine this is part of my future life).

Thank you to my equine partners Batman (my heart horse) & (most recently) Camellia for giving me wings to fly 🤍

Ten years ago, I thought I knew exactly what ThistleBEA would become.
In some ways, I was right. In a lot of the ways that matter, I was very, very wrong.
I am still completely obsessed with weddings. But now that hyperfixation comes with the respect of my tenure. After hundreds of weddings, I have a much better understanding of what couples actually need, and I still fundamentally believe that they deserve to be taken care of on their wedding day.
I am still blown away that people choose us for such an important day. But now, one of the greatest honours is being recommended by our couples to their friends and family. Getting to do your sibling's wedding because we did yours? That will never stop being cool.
But ThistleBEA has never really been just about me.
Winnie is where this team started. When I told her I was thinking about starting ThistleBEA, she elbowed her way in without me even asking. Without her, ThistleBEA would be me, myself, and I.
Ashley joined us in 2022, when I didn't yet realize just how underwater I was trying to run a business and raise two young kids. Her "10 hours a week, max" role somehow became me employing a mom almost full-time, and she is so often mistaken for my boss that I have to admit I'm usually the one making that mistake.
Rosalie took over Hello, Goodbye in 2023 and turned a side project into a self-sufficient division that is now a huge part of what we offer.
Sonaiya's love of florals started our floral division and opened up so many opportunities that I never could have imagined.
And then there is Adrienne, Jen, Jane, Julia, Camilla, Karen, Lisa, Kim, Annie, Amber, and everyone who has been part of this team along the way. You have carried chairs, solved problems, wrangled timelines, made flowers, loaded vans, calmed people down, and helped make ThistleBEA what it is.
And Jim. Literally none of this exists without him.
His encouragement, support, blind trust, penchant for buying domain names, and kindness gave ThistleBEA the chance to become anything at all.
Ten years later, I still don't know exactly what ThistleBEA will become.
But I know I am incredibly greatful for every person who has touched ThistleBEA along the way.

When your dress code is “spring/summer” and your wedding ends up looking like this...

Florals, light fabrics, that golden hour glow hitting different when everyone actually dressed for it. There’s something about a color-coordinated crowd that makes every single clip feel like it was pulled from a movie set.

This is why dress codes matter more than people think. Not just for the photos. For the whole vibe of the day, the way it all comes together when you look back at your wedding content and everything just fits.

Obsessed with how this one turned out! Would you give your guests a dress code? Drop your answer below 👇

You won’t remember everything but your wedding content will be iconic!

Not just the big moments either. The quiet hand squeezes, the messy laughs, the blink and you miss it stuff that somehow ends up meaning everything.

That’s where wedding content feels different.

As a wedding content creator, we’re there catching it all as it happens. Not just what makes the final cut, but everything in between. The real, unfiltered, slightly chaotic magic of the day.

And you’re not waiting weeks to relive it. You wake up the next morning and it’s already in your hands. Every clip, every angle, every moment you didn’t even realize was happening.

It’s your day, fully yours, not just a highlight reel.

If you could rewatch one moment from your day right now, what would it be? 💍🎥

This fall, artist @hi.neets and experiential designer @ryleahshae (our March issue cover stars!) will return with the third installation of their extremely whimsical, deeply delightful pop-up kids’ art gallery. For two magical weeks each year, the pair transforms a new venue into @tombologallery, where the space is broken down into an interactive scene from a story, inviting visitors big and small to play with the narrative.

Find out more about the installation at our link in bio.
