I came in town for Jazz Fest and a crawfish boil and left a fiancé 🎷🦞💍

This weekend was incredible and it was so fun celebrating the Nola way! Our visits never feel long enough. I can’t wait to be back and let the festivities begin! 🍾

being a witness and pupil to someone as brilliant and enormous as shelly raynal was a gift that i will cherish forever. she completely shaped my life over the last decade and there wasn't a single part of her i didn't admire. her humor, art, taste in music, sparkle, essence, everything about her was magnetic and exciting and i took to her instantly.

i'm not one to chat on the phone, but i rarely missed her call because our yaps were an unstoppable force. we yapped anywhere, about all the stuff, and we yapped until we couldn't. mrs. shelly did everything until she couldn't (then still found a way somehow 💅). she was the most resilient, the most loving, the kindest and most magical person that i've ever met. she was the biggest supporter and the best influence that i've ever had. my transition into adulthood wasn't graceful by any means lol but it wouldn't have happened at all without her. i can't fathom how much i'm going to miss her.

in more recent years, our conversations became primarily about existential things like spirituality, life, death, the meaning of all of this and what happens afterwards. her faith never wavered even during the worst of her battles and i learned so much from that alone. there is comfort in knowing with certainty that her soul is eternal because of what she taught me while she was alive. experiencing a relationship so beautiful and so invaluable with so many days still ahead of me leaves me overwhelmed with gratitude. there just are not enough words.

she was always with me, whether we were sharing an office room or on complete opposite sides of the world, and she is with me now. she will always be. i love you shellsta my soul sista and i will find you in every blue sky. thank you for everything, my friend <33333333
