Analesa at White Sands National Monument. Edited with @infinitecolorpanel

Pratik Naik, designer of the Infinite Color Panel Photoshop tool, recently announced a before/after contest with an amazing grand prize for the winner.

I definitely hope to win or place in the contest, but on the chance I do not, I hope it will go to one of my friends who also uses Photoshop. I invite you all to give Infinite Color Panel a try and then enter this contest, for which the deadline is September 13. See www.infinitecolorpanel.com/challenge

To the uninitiated: Infinite Color Panel is a nondestructive, layerable Photoshop extension that automates color grading. The extension is beyond intuitive in that it boils many complex processes down to an interface that can be as simple as clicking a single button to cycle through options. Results are instant and easily discerned. That's the beauty of the program. The strength of the program is that each variation displays as an automatically grouped collection of 5 different actions, each of which is presented as a distinct layer and therefore subject to further refinement. Users have the option to accept the random result, click for a new result, or open the individual layers to fine tune the result. When you add in the ability to make separate adjustments for highlights and shadows, the possibilities really are "infinite". For this image of Analesa, I clicked through and quickly found 4 color grades I liked a lot. Of the 4, this is my favorite because it answers an issue with the color imbalance of the original (flash foreground versus golden hour sky) while also enhancing the color of the ambient in the original. Voila! Took literally one minute to dramatically improve what has been an already well-received image.

The grand prize in this contest is a mirrorless camera of choice from Sony, Nikon, Fuji, et al. I am a Nikon user who is too invested in that system to switch to Sony, which I recognize as superior in every way to Nikon when it comes to wedding photography. Winning this contest would put a Sony A9 (and its silent shutter and superior autofocus) in my hands, greatly elevating my professionalism. After
