Author @anacrespobooks and I did an interview with @candacelhammond of WOMR. We talked about our start in writing children’s books, the power of school visits and connecting with young readers, and what inspires us to write. I met Ana when I coordinated her author visit to the school where I worked, the M.E. Small School in the D-Y district. ❤️Ana is doing an author visit in the Falmouth schools next week, and I’m heading to Upstate NY for a school visit! Link to the interview is in my bio. 🚒❤️✨

Today, I hand out books at The Pantry on Church as a Literacy Ambassador for @CobbCollaborative. My sister and I will load our cart up with copies of BEFORE I LIVED HERE by me, Victo Ngai and Neal Porter Books —and hundreds of books donated by @HolidayHousebks @peachtreepublishing @candlewickpress. We also have a little treat this month too. What better way to celebrate the release of a children's book than sharing books with young readers and their families! We have so many great books to share. I can't thank Holiday House, Peachtree Publishers, and Candlewick Press enough for their support of this event. #foodpantry #ThePantryonChurch #childrenshistorybook #librarians #teachers #classhistoryproject #coloradosetting

Roar-some STEM fun! 🦖📚

If you love dinosaurs and science, Stemosaurus by Andrew Root (illustrated by Mark Chambers) is an absolute must-read! With adorable illustrations, hilarious speech bubbles, and a fantastic introduction to STEM concepts, this book is dino-mite for young readers—and even my eighth graders! 🧪✨

It’s the perfect mix of problem-solving, humour, and curiosity-sparking fun. Plus, that ending? Chef’s kiss—it’ll have kids asking all the right questions!

🦕 Question of the Day: If you could bring one dinosaur back to life, which would you choose and why?

Cover time! I’m excited I can officially share the cover of BEFORE I LIVED HERE. It’s a book 📚️about the history of where you live. The idea was born in my Colorado neighborhood. Here is the fun cover by illustrator Victo Ngai. I can’t wait until the book releases on August 26. Neal Porter, Taylor Norman, and their team know children’s books! What a delight to work through the book making process with them. Before all of them, my friend Ana Crespo championed this book from critique group to going on submission. It’s available for pre-order where books are sold. Don’t worry … I’ll remind you (several times) about its release date. 😍 #StacySJensen #VictoNgai #NealPorterBooks #TaylorNorman #history #booksforyoungreaders #picturebooks #Colorado #Coloradobooks #childrenslibrarians #teachers #coverreveal #bookcover #VictoNgaiart #artshelf #art
