Happy Daughter’s Day to the girl who keeps me on my toes with her quick wit and inspires me every day. You might hide that big, sensitive heart behind a layer of sarcasm and armor, but I see your kindness clearly. I am so incredibly proud of the brilliant, strong-willed, and deeply loving woman you are. Your soul is pure gold❤️
I am so excited for the adventures ahead of you!

“Hi everyone! My name is Leah Byrnes and I am sophomore from Verona, New Jersey. I am an Elementary and Special Education major. On campus, I am a part of the Magis Education Scholars, involved with the PACE program, weekly service, a member of Alpha Gamma Delta, and participated in PSIP 2025! PSIP is a great way to get acclimated to campus and explore the city of Philadelphia before the school year even starts! I am so excited to experience PSIP for the second time as a leader and can’t wait to meet everyone!!” (She/her)

Our students on the Just Healthcare in Developing Nations study tour with Dr. Peter Clark, SJ and Dr. Steven Silver are just wrapping up an amazing week in Costa Rica!

This fall, the class spent the semester examining the issue of just healthcare for all peoples from both a public health perspective and an ethical perspective, then capped off their studies with a trip to Costa Rica this week! There they had the opportunity to meet with healthcare providers about their work, visit public and private healthcare facilities, visit a Jesuit organization supporting migrants and refugees, and hold a health promoter clinic for refugees from Nicaragua.

This study tour will be offered again next year, and is a perfect opportunity for students with healthcare-related majors looking for a chance to gain a broader perspective on their field—while earning CCC and GEP credit! Write to studyabroad@sju.edu to learn more and apply!
