Meet Anamé Rose.

Season 5 finale. Anamé got further on American Idol than most people ever dream of — and what she took away from it wasn’t about her voice. It was that she didn’t believe in herself yet.

She opened up about the audition that shook her confidence at 19 and the Hollywood music school that slowly rebuilt it — no math, no reading, just music every single day. She talked about what happens when you surround yourself with people who are better than you, and how talent has a way of rubbing off.

We talked about leaving Louisiana, considering Nashville, and landing on Austin. And about her parents — the love and support they’ve always shown her, and her dad telling her she always has a bed at home. That safety net, she said, is exactly what makes her less afraid to fail.

Her next chapter is more music, a massage practice, and maybe a combined wellness space where both can live together.

And what she’s most proud of now? Knowing exactly who she is and showing up as that person every day.

Hi! I’m Chandra - @sugarluxeart. I’m so excited to finally reveal this project I’ve been building for the last two years. It’s called Starving Artist!

I have been researching, writing and getting ready to share the love I feel for so many talented people in this town. Many whose contributions have completely made this city what it is. But they aren’t often recognized enough and rarely with enough pay.

I believe when we invest in creatives, everything else grows.

Lose the artists and musicians and other creatives who make a community worth living in — and we don’t just diminish culture. We LOSE BILLIONS in economic activity, millions of jobs, and the very identity of a city. So I’m investing my time and experience and hope others will do the same.

Please join me here and learn something new about someone you admire or discover someone new to fall in love with 💖

The first 6 feature stories are now live. Link in bio.

Peregrine Update 🪶
The first cut for Peregrine is finished (sorry for the delay - I was editing another project). Here are sample stills (w/ temporary color). Shot by my wonderful DP @angelaherr
I think it’s a miracle that this film got made. There were so many moving parts involved, and if I’m being honest, I was extremely depressed during the months leading up to the production to the point where I didn’t care about anything (except Halfway to Heaven), including whether this film got made or not. But I told myself to keep going because I knew it’d be worth it.
Ironically, Peregrine touches on the theme of depression and feeling like your life is over because you lost something you love. It also emphasizes the importance of recognizing the people who love you & are here for you now. I’m extremely lucky to have friends who really love me as a person, and not just a filmmaker. Thank you to everyone who helped me get through this really hard year (especially the greatest producer / friend @jahsuhmin ♥️). I really couldn’t have done it without my friends.
Thank you to the Peregrine team. You guys are so wonderful and you’re all genuinely my favorite part about this production. Thank you for trusting me and being such good people to be around. I have so much love for this whole team 🩵🪶

Hoping to have a work-in-progress screening early 2026 (for the team + anyone who donated 🤠)
More to come soon!
