For all you Baccarat, Kosta Boda, Daum, Lalique, Waterford, Murano fans; here is a treat for your eyes!
Santa Cruz, California-based husband and wife Paul DeSomma and Marsha Blaker are impressive glass artists individually, but the stunning pieces they produce as a duo blow us away with the breathtaking force of a tidal wave. Working mainly with hot glass, the pair create gorgeous, ocean-inspired glass sculptures that mimic the grace and motion of cascading waves.

Inspired by their love of nature and the sea, Blaker and DeSomma painstakingly recreate spectacular watery elements, from gradient shades of cerulean and glistening surfaces that catch the light, to incredibly realistic bubbles and white crystallizations of foam among smooth ripples. Whether in the form of an avant-garde vase or a solid sculpture of a surging wave, each splendid work of art embodies the true beauty of the ocean. @anangmanjari #thankyouforposting @lusso_all_things_luxury #luxury #lussoatl #luxuryart #art #artist #glassart #glassartist #glassblowing #glass

The Midnight Planétarium is an incredible feat of engineering, design and artistic craftsmanship. Besides showing the time, this watch also accurately displays the movement of 6 planets in our solar system as they orbit the Sun.
Each of those 6 planets are represented by a precious or semiprecious stone selected to represent that planet’s color – serpentine for Mercury, chloromelanite for Venus, turquoise for Earth, red jasper for Mars, blue agate for Jupiter and sugilite for Saturn. The two other planets in our solar system were excluded because the lengths of their orbits would make their movements on the watch imperceptible and impractical – Uranus orbits the sun in 84 Earth years and Neptune makes the trip in 164.
The watch took 396 pieces and 3 whole years of work to complete.
The watch was presented to the public in Geneva at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogeri by the Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry and perfume company in partnership with Dutch watchmaker Christiaan van der Klaauw, who has been creating watches and clocks since the 1970s. @anangmanjari #thankyouforposting @lusso_all_things_luxury #luxury #lussoatl #luxurywatches #watches #midnightplanetarium

Interesting concept by designer Alexandre Chapline. This series of coffee tables is an amalgamation of natural rock carved to look like islands and cliffs and resin to look like the ocean. His idea was to have have a piece of the ocean in the house. Not sure I would put this in my home but it's stunning nonetheless. @anangmanjari #thankyouforposting @lusso_all_things_luxury #luxury #lussoatl #luxuryinteriors #interiordesign #designer #alexandrechapelin

I know this is already in stores but I still love it! This is the iconic Tod's Gommino for men from the Spring Summer 2016 collection. I love the braided detailing, so different from the usual buckles and leather tabs. Love the blue, don't like the brown one much though, it's a bit for an older person unless worn well. @anangmanjari #thankyouforposting @lusso_all_things_luxury #joinusonfacebook #discussiongroup #allthingsluxury #lussoatl #staylusso #facebookgroup #lussoatlfashion @tods #tods

People have coveted natural pearls as symbols of wealth and status for thousands of years. A Chinese historian recorded, what is the oldest written mention of natural pearls, in 2206 BC.

Pearls are unique as they are the only gems from living sea creatures and require no faceting or polishing to reveal their natural beauty.
The first steps toward pearl culturing occurred hundreds of years ago in China, and Japanese pioneers successfully produced whole cultured pearls around the beginning of the twentieth century.
Since the 1920s, cultured pearls have almost completely replaced natural pearls in the market.

There are four major types of cultured whole pearls Akoya, Tahitian, South Sea, and Freshwater pearls.

I remember someone posting about Kintsugi or Kintsukuroi as its also known. Found this, thought it would be interesting.
Isn't it gorgeous? I love it! Each piece is unique and can never be replicated. Each piece has a story of its own.
Japanese artist Tomomi Kamoshita strolls along the shoreline, collecting fragments of ceramics she finds on her way. Then, using the traditional method of kintsugi, she combines the found shards with ones taken from her personal collection and ends up creating lovely and utterly unique chopstick rests. The Tokyo-based potter focuses her energy on reviving these shattered bits because, as she explains: “As every Japanese [person] has realized, the waves can take away a great deal from us, but it is also true that we greatly benefit from it.” Her delightful creations repurpose the ceramic shards which would otherwise be abandoned to the ocean and left as litter.
Kintsugi is an ancient Japanese craft used to repair cracks in pottery pieces with gold as an adhesive. Ceramics revived with this method adopt an enchanting appearance, as the gold draws attention to, and celebrates, the tumultuous history of the pottery. Kamoshita makes use of this concept to carefully piece together smashed bits which come her way—whether from tsunamis or just careless disposal by their owners. The concealed past of these ceramic fragments only adds to the allure that can be found within Kamoshita’s artwork.
