To prime the muscle and nervous system for explosive performance,
such as heavy bench presses,
Plyometric pushups are a simple yet effective exercise.

Once you have done dynamic stretches or a light warm up set of an exercise like pec flyes,
1 or 2 sets of plyo pushups,
2 to 4 minutes before heavy lifts is ideal to increase power output.

They are also great as an exercise when incorporating HIIT or TABATA style cardio.
