Happy Anniversary to us!! 4 years married, a decade of being in love, and 1 1/2 years of hanging with our lil Ruby June 😍 Words can’t describe how good it feels to be on this journey with your best friend number one, and it really is wild how time flies when you’re having fun. Proud of my incredibly beautiful and talented wife @ancientpools and I for navigating our way through a wild world and doing our best to fill every nook and cranny with a whole lotta love ❤️ Hazzah!

Here's what you heard on this morning's What The Flock? on @kuzu929: a tracklist assembled by a lot of random keyword searches in my Bandcamp selection to pick out something that would sound like a reasonably articulate poem when stringing the titles together. It turned out way better than I hoped, dare I say special, even. It took a bit longer to air than anticipated, but I'm still glad you got to hear it (though two weeks ago, I almost decided to shelve it entirely).

And also in a turn of complete irony from what I said at the end of the show, in two weeks, I will barely talk and fill nearly the full hour's worth of time with uninterrupted tracks. To be fair, I hadn't made that choice when I recorded the show that aired this morning. The tone of the show in two weeks is different, maybe even fun? It's as close to a dance party as you're going to probably ever get out of me. It was inspired by some albums I picked up in Amsterdam (though I sourced largely from my collection, ofc).

Speck's Appreciation Post: I've been visiting/ supporting this record shop since moving to Portland in 2015. L o n g before I had any records in here I would stop by to crate dig, find new local releases and/or enjoy the performances being put on. Michael (and staff) has always been an avid supporter of the music scene; the resume of shows/support speaks for itself. It's truly an honor to have had my records past through here over the years. Hard post for my number one (s)!! Happiest birthday to my incredibly talented and loving wife, who has been my absolute best friend for 9 years now🧡 And this last year has been just next level bringing Ruby into our lives. Being a parent to such a smart, happy lil lady has been the most heartwarming experience to the nth degree. she’s so smart and growing up so fast!! 10 months old already?!?! i love ma girls 😍😍

enquanto lia eu ouvia...

inspirado pelas experiências musicais e literárias da @tempsde_lecture, que sempre compartilha as trilhas sonoras que pairavam sua mente enquanto ela lia inúmeras histórias, venho eu aqui deixar registrado as músicas que ouvi enquanto lia certos livros...

acho maravilhoso a magia da literatura em conjunto com a arte musical, tudo se intensifica e se encaixa de formas que pouco sabemos explicar, mas que podemos sentir a cada página ou melodia...

aqui ficará marcado o amor e a saudade materna que envolvem "enquanto a noite não chega", da mesma forma que envolvem a música "todo homem"...

o forró de "Raquel dos teclados", que moldou meu passado e acompanhou toda minha leitura de "a cabeça do santo"...

o cotidiano simples e rotineiro de "pessoas normais", que tanto me conquista, mesclado a calma de ouvir as músicas do álbum "cosine, de ancient pools"...

a magia, também cotidiana, que acompanha "sul da fronteira, oeste do sol" traz uma beleza ímpar, além de presentes musicais como "pretend"...

e a dor do viver impregnado em "uma vida pequena", refletida no álbum "carrie & Lowell, de sufjan stevens"... Principalmente na música "fourth of July", que carrega uma infelicidade tão angustiante quanto o livro em questão...

essas são algumas marcações mentais que queria deixar por aqui, não só como lembrança, mas também como prova de que é maravilhosamente belo ler, ouvir e recordar...
