Ooh la la. Ladies and gents, I think I’ve found my perfect abode and it’s here at the Ansonia Residence situated on the Upper West Side. Completed in 1904, this Beaux-Arts building was originally considered the largest residential hotel in NYC. With these interiors designed by @and.studio.interiors and captivatingly photographed by @nicole_franzen for @vogueliving this home just oozes sophistication, cool luxury and a desirability to move right in to savour this historical architectural gem. I’m visiting New York in February after way too many years absent and I cannot wait to get lost wandering the streets of New York marvelling at the majestic buildings that will find me. Curve again

Rounded armchairs, arched openings and softened architectural details repeat the same visual language at different scales.

A chair, curved burl timber, is both functional and an object of art, strong form creating presence even in a smaller piece.

A small departure can change the whole room, the one upholstered chair introducing just enough colour to loosen the neutral palette.

Ten Sunday Saves 🌀

1. The Madedotcom x Barbican collaboration. I’m a big fan of the brutalist Barbican building and seeing this 50s style come through into high street furniture is 😍 @madedotcom

I’ve been thinking a lot about what luxury in our homes means now.

As more of our lives become digital, fast and easily replicated, I think we’re placing greater value on the things that feel unmistakably human.

Pieces collected over time rather than bought all at once. Objects literally made by human hands. Signs of age, imperfection and individuality.

Not necessarily expensive, but personal and difficult to replicate.

Maybe the new luxury is human touch, and making our homes feel a little more human too.
