📚10 Books before the End📚

I was tagged by the wonderful @litwithgabs and @the_bookish_wife_life

When I had did my list from last year, I think I had read only 4 out of the 10. I'm a mood reader, I can't help that. I think I do have a better chance this year to actually read them all. Or at least, most of this stack.

Books mentioned:

Nemesis by @harperblackbooks
Parable of the Talents by Octavia Butler
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas ( 30% into it)
Don Quixote by Miguel Cervantes
Beloved by Toni Morrison
Theo of Golden by Allen Levi
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
Katabasis by @kuangrf
The Knight and the Moth by @rmgillig ( I had promised @bookishgoesbrat that I would read it soon)
Daughters of Crows by @mark___lawrence

Wish me luck. I will be tagging a few people to see if they have a 10 before the end list.

Summer Showdown- July + August Wrap Up ☀️

This summer was, well … it was a mixed bag. A tree fell on my car and house, BUT the books were f*ing 🔥🔥🔥 and the buddy reads were A+ vibes.

In July, I didn’t get as much reading done because of, well, the tree crushing my car and all. But I did read four books. Starling House was a paranormal romantic fantasy about a quirky haunted house. A Parade of Horribles (dungeon crawler Carl / litrpg / scifi ) was hilarious as always. Prepotente had me cracking up. Then Disquiet Gods (sci fi / space opera) was fantastic! Definitely one of my favorites in the sun eater series. I also read an ARC but I didn’t love it and I’m already rambling so I’m going to keep focusing on what I enjoyed.

For August, I was really craving a book I didn’t hear a lot about, so I grabbed The Night Ends With Fire off my shelf because all I knew about it was that it was a mulan retelling. This book was my favorite surprise of the summer. A bingeable romantasy seeped in Asian legends, and on the darker side too. I devoured it then flew right into boon 2, The Dragon Wakes with Hunger and finished off the Dragon Spirit duology. I just loved the imperfect FMC and one of the MMCs may be a new book boyfriend. The last page of the duology gave me CHILLS!

Then I read A Forsaken Prophecy which was a good time with amazing dialogue and banter. And if you know me, you know my obsession with dialogue. Another fantastic surprise was Lorelyi! @authoradb ‘s indie debut, this dark romantasy was written so beautifully with a super unique possession magic system.

Last physical book I read was Crescent City and I was stuck on ch 4 for about four months, but this buddy read pushed me through chapter 5 and, wow. I was hooked. This book is a lot of fun and if you’re an SJM fan as well, I encourage you to push through the first 100 pages because it was so so good! Then I read another ARC and again, The Ship of Death, which is not my usual read but i enjoyed it! Jumanji meets possession horror/thriller.

That’s it! What was your favorite read of the summer? Have you read any of these?

Stephen King Stack

Thanks for the tag. @mountainsandmoodreads Stephen King has so many book and I’ve only gotten to a handful of them. Here is the stack.

First book : The Shining I read this as a teenager. It was scary and weird.

Scariest book : Pet Semetary. This was my favorite for several years. It’s insane and even King felt he went too far at the time. But it’s a great book.

Favorite book: the Stand. I complain about long books. But this one was 🔥. By far my favorite. . I honest think this is his best work.

Disappointing. 11/22/63
I know I’ll get shit for this one. But it was just too long. Sounds a bit hypocritical but there was a long time where it was just loooooong af. A good book. But I think the hype killed it a tad . That happens right?

Best movie: The Long Walk.
This was a surprise for me. I liked this way more than I thought I would. The story is crazy in the best way. And the movie was good too. Wasn’t a fan of the change in the movie, but both are great.

Book I haven’t read: Thinner. I just won this one so it will be up next. Another Richard Backman book. But he was written some good ones under this name.

Tagging a few. I think some of you will do it. And I expect some of the books to be ordered differently. But I would love to see your stack.

What your favorite King book? Any here match your taste?
