CHUSK // HOBART
Damn…what an experience!!

Huge thanks to @angusjwatkins for bringing CHUSK together and for embracing all the chaos we kept throwing into the mix. It takes someone with a genuinely crazy side to pull this off & we did it!

Massive thank you as well to the @salamancaartscentre for opening your doors and giving our ideas a place to come alive.

The evening only worked because all our crew brought something amazing and made it their own. @henrikekhayes gave exactly what CHUSK needed with his otherworldly guitaring and hypnotic vibe…@matrika_music transformed the event through her DJ sets, live sampling and stage performance, constantly finding new places for the night to go. @amycsteel’s commanding poetry brought honesty, heart and fire to my strange little storyline, while @anderschrauthcreative’s mind blowing video installation added a psychedelic layer that carried throughout the afternoon.

I’m incredibly grateful to have shared my rendition Lodger with a Hobart audience and to have stood alongside such generous and talented people from SW WA who made CHUSK the event it was. And to all of the partners, friends and family who made the trip, helped hang artwork, set up installations, carried gear, offered support and quietly kept everything moving behind the scene…thank you!

Finally, thank you to everyone who came along. Your openness to spending an evening with us made CHUSK what it was, and it’s one I’ll remember for a long time.

So this all happened at Tabula Rasa @archaicaschola last Sat nite…funny thing is, none of us really knew where it was heading😊

What started as live art, music, projection and spoken word kept growing and growing long after the event was supposed to finish. People stayed…talked…and best of all they created!! New collaborations started, and the whole thing took on a life of its own…the birth of CHUSK indeed!

The best part is that it didn’t stop there. What came out of that room flowed straight into the CHUSK event at Salamanca the following night, and has now made its way back to Western Australia…yeah boi!

A massive thank you to Yvette - @doctor_why_what and Archaica Schola for opening your doors and making us feel so welcome. It was a privilege to spend time in your space, and I’m already excited by where these new friendships and collaborations might lead.

@angusjwatkins huge thanks for bringing this all together, & curating the whole crazy artwork that we took from the nite.

@henrikekhayes your guitar added so much to the atmosphere throughout the night and was a huge part of the event.

@amycsteel big thanks for sharing your poetry and as always enthusiastic vibe which everyone soaked in!

@matrika_music - Sophie big love for the Très cool DJ’ng that carried the evening and underpinned the whole event!

And @anderschrauthcreative your video installation was such an important part of the space.

Most of all, thank you to everyone from Hobart who came along. Thanks for staying, talking, making, questioning, sharing and adding to the craziness! Whatever happened that night belonged to everyone in the room, and it’s something I’ll def be thinking about for a long long time.

Until next time Hobart!
