Going three days without a matcha was rough

Now that the dust has settled from the National Championship, we would like to take a moment to recognize the record breaking season from the University of Miami. The Atlantic Coast Conference is an incredibly difficult conference to receive an At-Large bid from, with 4 competing teams typically finishing top 10 in the nation. After finishing 11th in the ACC last year, the Miami Hurricanes jumped 6 spots for the 2026 season, placing 5th in the conference and receiving a bid to compete at NCAA’s. Miami finished 13th overall as a team and qualified TWO boats to the Petite Final during their very first trip to the National Championship, capping off an incredible season of racing.

To commemorate, we had a couple of questions for Head Coach of Miami Rowing, James Mulcahy. He offered really great insight into the behind the scenes work that led them to an impressive and historic season finish!

Thank you so much to Coach Mulcahy, @canesrowing, and @miamihurricanes for making this happen! Division 1 Rowing gets faster every year, and the University of Miami is a shining example of this growth. Congratulations to the Hurricanes on setting a new standard for collegiate rowing in the Sunshine State. We can’t wait to see what comes next!
