Two Years Ago Today. Part 1 of 3.

I first met @andistull and @devangg in the summer of 2019. I only followed them on instagram at the time and noticed they were road-tripping up to Squamish from California. I reached out asking if I could join them one day in the boulders to photograph them. It would be the first time I’d use my battery-powered Profoto studio lighting setup in the forest. It also happened to be the day Devan sent Black Magic (V13!). That day I met Andi, Devan, their dog Mischka, and Andi’s mom. It was a special day.

Three years later, I’d get a message from Devan asking for some help. He was planning on proposing to Andi in Squamish that trip, and wondered if I’d be able to help photograph it. Two days after the proposal shoot, we shot the photographs seen here. They’re some of, if not my absolute favourite photographs I’ve ever made, and that whole week was special. I have absolutely no idea why I’ve never shared them, but being overwhelmed by how many I wanted to share is likely part of that reason.

Climbing is special; Squamish too. I recently just got back from a 9 day camping and climbing trip in Squamish myself, and I fell in love with all of it all over again. I will post more about that trip later, hopefully not two years later.

So thank you to rock climbing, thank you Squamish, and thank you Andi and Devan. Parts 2 and 3 to follow. Check them all out. Love is and always has been the answer.
