Least Simplest Sponge out there 🧽🫡

Crazy opportunity to play SpongeBob in @classactperformers performance of “SpongeBob SquarePants the Musical” at the Don Russell.

Was only three performances but I’ve taken so much out of it.

Over four years ago I rocked up to CAP for Singing Lessons with a voice that only just dropped and not much else. The first lesson I sang “Simple Sponge” as I was obsessed with this musical. Crazy how things go full circle. I reckon we went through the entire soundtrack that year until we decided to search elsewhere for a solo for the end of year concert. There is absolutely no way I sounded anywhere near how our performance went this year and it’s all thanks to @andrea_colcott . I cannot thank you enough for everything 🥰 I’ve come so far from that first lesson and it’s genuinely all thanks to you.

A year later I auditioned to be in a different rendition of SpongeBob and completely flunked the audition process - going home feeling empty. This was honestly the wake up call I needed and it was here where I began to turn away from Musical Theatre as a career choice a steered toward Broadcasting and it was amazing to finally fill the void and not only be in a performance of SBSPTM but to have the astonishing opportunity to be able to go up and sing all of the songs I sung poorly in my first year of singing lessons, in front of full audiences of cheering people.

Every year our MT class gets bigger and bigger. And every year I decide to only speak to about 5% of the class, sticking with the friends I am already close with. Something I never thought would happen was the amount of relationships built and amazing people met through doing a musical. People I would have never spoken to before and probably still would not have if we hadn’t had done this.

All these things considered, it was crazy to live out a childhood dream and I will be forever thankful for it!

Laughing Horse Productions Inc's Seussical the Musical, was the first Finley Countdown musical to be cast and rehearsed post-shutdown. It was still heavily Covid affected with reduced audiences and coucil imposed limits on the number of people on stage - meaning some very creative staging was required.
Directed by Adam Salathiel, with musical direction by Ben Albert this photo includes Krispin Maesalu as Horton, Rai Costin as the Cat in the Hat, Nicole George as the Kangaroo and Skye Colcutt as the Young Kangaroo. The show was performed at the City of Gosnells - Don Russell Performing Arts Centre. @laughing_horse_productions #cityofgosnellsdonrussellperformingartscentre #seussical #seussicalthemusical #perththeatre #perthactors #finleyawards2020 #finleycountdown
