Out now on Umor Rex: B/B/S/ — NK012. The first recordings by the trio of Aidan Baker (Nadja, Canada), Andrea Belfi (Italy), and Erik Skodvin (Svarte Greiner / Deaf Center, Norway). NK012 returns in a newly remastered vinyl edition by Rafael Anton Irisarri. Shipping now from our Bandcamp and @anostanost

Instrumentation builds in gradual crescendos as guitars, effects, percussion, and synthesizers merge into shifting textures and dense drones. Vibrant and intuitive, the pieces move freely between forms and genres, driven by the immediacy of live performance and spontaneous composition.

New on Umor Rex 🟡 Originally released by Umor Rex on cassette in 2015, NK012 by B/B/S/documents the first-ever musical meeting of Berlin-based musicians Aidan Baker (Nadja, Canada), Andrea Belfi (Italy), and Erik Skodvin (Svarte Greiner / Deaf Center, Norway). Now, more than a decade later, the album is available on vinyl for the first time, newly remastered for the format by Rafael Anton Irisarri. This marks the third release in a series of four special, limited reissues to be released in 2026 to mark the 20th anniversary of Umor Rex.

Recorded with nothing more than a stereo microphone placed in the middle of the room, NK012 captures the trio in their first session together, with the simple intention of improvising. Instrumentation builds in gradual crescendos, shifting textures between passages as looped incarnations of earlier motifs accumulate into all-consuming drones. The five pieces that make up NK012 already set the foundations for the trio’s subsequent work. Across the album, guitars, an array of effects pedals, percussion, and synthesizers merge into a raw and highly intuitive sound world. Vibrant and intense, the pieces move freely between forms and genres, driven by the immediacy of live performance and spontaneous composition.

Not every unforgettable performance needs a monumental set. Sometimes, all it takes is bodies, rhythm and presence.

From the iconic Rosas danst Rosas by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker / @rosasdance, brought to life by its fifth generation of dancers, to the hypnotic duet by Not Standing / @alexandervantournhout, driven by @andreabelfi’s relentless live drums.

Inside @bunker__h, @cultofmagic led us into our unconscious, where impulses and hidden desires took over.

And with Les Mémoires d’une seigneure, @olivierdubois.officiel transformed the stage into a powerful collective force, bringing together Marie-Laure Caradec and 40 performers through an open call.

“I don’t change music because of new fashion. I’m extremely happy that I was resilient enough to hold on until at some point, someone said, ‘Oh, I get it!’” — Andrea Belfi

From underground squats to opening for Thom Yorke at the Philharmonie in Paris, Belfi reflects on his solo path, drumming, and artistic resilience.

New Oratio now on the cloud !

cotton pills is a sonic identity of Max Rakhmatullin — Paris-based sound producer, musician, and selector. 1/2 of render’ to render again or anew radio show on Station Station and event series, member of Atelier des Artistes en Exil.

His work moves through genre-fluid electronics, spanning textured ambient, dub-influenced
bass music, and hazy percussive structures. The focus lies in contrast and atmosphere — rhythmic and unrhythmic, heavy and weightless, rough and delicate — forming a wide emotional and sonic spectrum.

Mix for Retreat is an essential collection of sounds and influences that shape the project: from
Hyperdub-associated artists like Nazar and Iceboy Violet to the intelligent minimalism of Frank
Bretschneider and Deru, while also paying respect to Detroit and Berlin techno through Underground Resistance and classic machine-driven dance music — with traces of Memphis rap aesthetics woven throughout.

Thanks Max 🤍🤍

On September 20, Bergen Kunsthall premieres Nazanin Noori’s "A LETTER TO EUROPE", a new spoken word opera based on a poem by @athenafarrokhzad addressing migration, borders, and displacement in contemporary Europe. Fragments of Earthly Verses by Forugh Farrokhzad recur throughout the performance as a poetic refrain. Combining voice, percussion, and electronics, the work features a score composed by @nznnsmmnr with musician and composer @andreabelfi.

Drawing on the structure of a wedding, the performance brings together a classical Iranian singer, @samin_ghorbanii, two spoken-word performers, @katestrong76 and Noori herself, and two drummers, Andrea Belfi and @ludwig_wandinger. Taking the myth of Europa from Greek mythology as a point of departure, the work translates themes of coercion and contested belonging into a staged configuration. The mythological reference operates as a structural parallel rather than a narrative illustration, situating Farrokhzad’s critique of Europe within a longer history of forced movement and asymmetrical power relations.

The work is commissioned by @bergenkunsthall. Presented at @mahgeneve, Geneva; Kyiv Biennial at @kwinstitutefcontemporaryart, Berlin; and Bergen Kunsthall. Generously supported by @frittord @sparebankennorge @sparebankennorgestotter and @bergesenstiftelsen. With thanks to @calliesberlin.

Finally sharing the official trailer of 𝙏𝙝𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙚 𝙇𝙞𝙫𝙚 (2026)

𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘓𝘪𝘷𝘦 (2026) marks the first time Not Standing reworks an existing performance, re-imagining it for two bodies that have aged and move differently with the passing of time.

Through uninterrupted mutual contact, the interweaving of touching and being touched develops as the underlying melody of the performance, one that is attuned to the live accompaniment of Andrea Belfi, the Italian experimental percussionist.

Find us this summer at @bolzanodanza on the 23rd of July 🇮🇹

Performed by Axel Guérin, Alexander Vantournhout and Andrea Belfi.
