✨ THE TRIANGLE’S FLAVOR IS TAKING OVER THREE FLOORS! ✨

Join us on September 19 for EMPOWERment Inc.’s 30th Anniversary Gala, featuring our Featured Chefs of the Triangle! 🍽️

I’m proud to be part of EMPOWERment Inc.’s 30th Anniversary celebration, honoring 30 years of
changing lives and strengthening our community by expanding affordable housing, advancing
economic opportunity, and building stronger communities through advocacy and organizing.

This isn’t your typical seated dinner. The Story Venue spans THREE stories, and featured chefs will be stationed throughout the venue offering guests tastings of their signature dishes. Your ticket gives you access to the full experience, so come ready to explore, taste, mingle, and celebrate 30 years of community impact.

Amazing day at the unrivaled @mnstatefair with 150K of our closest friends. The Apple Fries and the Crop Art both well worth the wait in line! @theherbivorousb came through w the vegan cubano crunchwrap. So much butter left to sculpt! Strains of the sold out Weird Al show serenaded our departure. Great work, everyone.

A heartfelt thank you to Chef Andrea of Lantern Restaurant for creating such a memorable July Sunday Harvest Dinner. Her cooking honored every ingredient and brought out the best in our certified organic produce. Thoughtful, deeply flavorful, and beautifully seasonal, every dish was a pleasure to share.

Thank you also to everyone who joined us around the table. What makes these evenings especially meaningful is knowing they extend beyond the meal itself. Your support helps make fresh, healthy food more accessible through our food access work. Sharing good food while helping nourish our community feels like the very best way to spend a Sunday.

We are grateful to everyone who made this evening so memorable, and we look forward to gathering around the table again soon.

While attending a sustainable biz conference a year ago, I bumped into an old friend and colleague Jamie, who quietly and gracefully told me he was considering a run for US Congress. Jamie is a tireless advocate for people + planet, an authentic leader, and a family farmer!
My first thought was how exciting, we SO need more sustainable farmers in elected offices! My second thought? Let’s throw this man a PARTY! People who care about sustainable food systems, whether they’re a grower, chef or farmers market shopper - they KNOW how #CommunityisEverything!
So, last week, in the midst of early voting season, we gathered almost 300 people for a truly phenomenal event. (Jamie also told me a year ago that he knows ONE song he could play on guitar… and poor Jamie didn’t know I may not have a good memory but I write everything down, lol! Scroll through w/ sound ON to see a future Congressman playing some John Prine!)

I cannot really find the words for how touched I am by all the people who came together to build this dreamy moment of hope. To the badass Chefs, volunteers, sponsors, the incredible Tift Merritt who gifted us an amazing set, to all the attendees from near and far, and to my inspiring co-coordinators….. I love you! Thx for planting such rich seeds of hope.

Yes, it’s an incredibly sad, stressful and divisive time. But, it really doesn’t have to be this way. I hope you can all find some time to cultivate hope, hold space for it ALL, and exercise your right to VOTE. So much appreciation and respect to all the good citizens who put themselves out there to serve in this way.
Let’s go @jamieagernc !!!

Did we open for @sensanders last night @carolinatheatregso ? Yes, yes we did.

Thanks to the Marguerite Casey Foundation for inviting us to play, along with @guitar.yaz who was amazing and @thekidmero who gave us the best intro ever.

Got to hear from @siembranc and @downhomenc who are doing important work here in North Carolina.

Great crowd, great crew, great night in Greensboro, our first show there since….2008 Obama GOTV at the Coliseum? First acoustic show since 2001 Gate City Noise? We only play legendary venues in GSO!

This one is a long one - the end of the Scraps slide show / oral history of 90’s indie rock. @robreynoldsstudio rounds it out and there was no way to break up his story of traveling on the Dung Beetle /Sleepyhead Pig Nation tour. Full video link in bio as well as article about the show at CBGB (The Greying of Indie Rock)

Part five of probably 8 short segments of a 22 minute photo based oral history / recitation of written stories that largely appeared in my 1999 book Scraps - that I hope to re-print. @sukistetson cut the sound for my photo show at CBGB Gallery. - check bio for full link plus a village voice article about my show -
