📣 Our event with bestselling authors Miranda Cowley Heller and Andi Buchanan is now free and open to the public!

📘 Miranda and Andi will discuss Miranda's debut poetry collection, What the Deep Water Knows, tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. at The Doylestown Bookshop.

📗 Miranda's debut novel, The Paper Palace, was a number one New York Times bestseller in the US, a Sunday Times bestseller in the UK, and was longlisted for the Women's Prize. She has worked as senior vice president and head of drama series at HBO, developing and overseeing such shows as The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, The Wire, Deadwood, and Big Love, among others.

As some may know, Andrea J. Buchanan (@andreajbuchanan), our Executive Director since 2021, has been on a medical leave of absence since June.

Unfortunately, she has just let us know that after much consideration she is unable to resume her position at the Foundation.

In Andrea’s words: “This decision was a heartbreaking one that did not come easily to me. Serving as Executive Director of the Spinal CSF Leak Foundation has been an honor and a privilege. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together over the past three and a half years, and as we make this transition to a new leadership, I’m excited for the future of the Foundation and its mission.”

In her absence, former Board President Jen MacKenzie has stepped into the Acting Executive Director role on a part-time basis. Jen experienced spinal CSF leak symptoms for many years herself until her leak was found and surgically repaired in early 2023. After volunteering for the Foundation in other capacities, she joined the Board of Directors in 2022.

In Jen’s words: “It is my privilege to answer the call to serve as Acting Executive Director during Andi’s leave. We now begin the important task of finding someone new to hold this vital role on a full-time basis who can support us in fulfilling our mission of reducing the suffering of anyone affected by spinal CSF leak, and help us continue to bring exciting projects to fruition.”

We sincerely appreciate everything that Andi has done during her many years of growing and supporting the Foundation, first as a volunteer and then as the organization’s first Executive Director.

We wish her the best in health and all other pursuits. 💜

Just a girl and her books 💞 so so close to moving in… we’ve had some hiccups with internet/utilities but once that’s squashed, we’ll be living in our new home full time. 🏡

👉 PS I’m still working through reading 24 @netgalley books in 31 days, I’m 3 down so I’ve got some catching up to do!! Wish me luck 🤪😖😳🥵

RUBY LOST AND FOUND is a book about the family we have and the family we make. @andreajbuchanan (who is the author of some of my FAVORITE books) has been one of the dearest, closest friends and mentors of mine. She’s seen it all — times when I had nothing but years of rejection, times when I thought I would never write a book again, times when I wasn’t sure if I would ever make this writing dream of mine come true. And she’s been there for me all this time with her wholehearted and unreserved support and wisdom. And this past weekend she surprised me with a cake — A RUBY cake!! — for my upcoming release, and I just about almost lost it.

here’s to Ruby, and to Andi, and to found family. 🫶
