RECHARGE YOUR LONGING
by RICKLIN × KOCH
shown at Galerie Mauritiushof, Bad Zurzach
@galerie_mauritiushof
2025

About the work:
The interactive installation RECHARGE YOUR LONGING, created by the artist duo Ricklin × Koch @ricklin_x_koch (@andrearicklin x @anouk.koch) for the exhibition Emotional Cargo, evokes the atmosphere of a roadside service station. Visitors are invited to engage directly with the work, which features familiar convenience-store objects — lighters, keychains, mugs, flowers, and other small treasures — all designed and printed by Andrea Ricklin and Anouk Koch.

During the opening, the shop was staffed by attendants, offering visitors the opportunity to purchase these items on site. This playful interaction reflects the instant gratification and fleeting fulfillment of contemporary desire. The installation transforms everyday commodities into a participatory space, exploring the intersections of consumer culture, emotional exchange, and the pursuit of immediate satisfaction.

About the exhibition:
Emotional Cargo unfolds as a journey through three rooms, tracing states of overwork, tension, longing, and the simulation of rest. It invites reflection on the hidden weight we carry, the sparks that drive us, and the fragile escapes we yearn for. Between social constructs, digital realities, and human connections — where communication falters, roles shift, and relationships search for new directions.

Thank you all so much ❤️‍🔥

29 PALMS - EMOTIONAL CARGO by Andrea Ricklin x Anouk Koch @ricklin_x_koch @andrearicklin @anouk.koch shown at Galerie Mauritiushof, Bad Zurzach @galerie_mauritiushof
23.08.2025–05.10.2025

about the work:
29 Palms recreates a beach environment, complete with a live feed from a distant shore, constructing a setting that evokes the allure of vacation.
Relaxation is fragile, and the act of switching off is only temporary. The installation explores the tension between longing and disillusionment, revealing how notions of rest and recharging often rely on staged environments and curated offerings that rarely live up to expectations.

It invites reflection on the hidden weight we carry, the sparks that drive us, and the fragile escapes we long for. Like a Moth to a Flame — solo show with Andrea Ricklin coming soon to KUNSTSURFER. @andrearicklin

Like a Moth to a Flame explores the seductive pull of digital temptation — from algorithmically curated content to a culture of instant gratification. In a technological landscape where platforms personalize and intimately adapt to our behavior, the line between genuine desire and engineered response begins to blur. The exhibition poses a provocative question: are our choices truly our own, or are they subtly shaped by systems we barely understand?
