Another successful annual tree planting with Mission Green Toronto! This year, we planted dozens of trees across low canopy cover neighbourhoods in midtown and Thornhill and delivered just as many. Looking forward to many more such successful plantings in the future! Thank you to all our drivers and volunteers, who came to help do the job despite the rainy weather this year - your dedication is appreciated!

Срећна слава Свети Сава! Happy Slava Saint Sava!

Yesterday, during our Slava celebration, the U of T SSA was honoured to meet with and receive a letter of recognition by Tom Rakočević, Member of Provincial Parliament for Humber River-Black Creek, for its efforts to actively promote and preserve culture among the Serbian diaspora as well as inter-culturally.

Photos:

3: Current President and Vice-President of the SSA.
4: President and Vice-President of the SSA from 2019-2023.
5: Letter of recognition.
6: Ikon of St. Sava, founder of the independent Serbian Orthodox Church and patron saint of education. St. Sava is known as the “školska slava” (school Slava) and is widely celebrated among all Serbs.

Thank you to everyone who attended and joined in on the potluck — we hope to see you all at another event soon! 🇷🇸

Memories from UofT's return to the Canadian Intercollegiate Lumberjacking Association tournament in Lindsay, Ontario! Undergrads from Foresters' Club and FGSA worked together to create a day for the history books of UofT's forestry community and had a great time doing it. We are all excited to again have UofT be a part of this tradition

Tracks From Abroad crosses the 60 episode mark tonight as we visit Little Italy with @chinradiocanada and @tommasosantilli_art of @uoftitalian . TFA has met dozens of new faces during the last 10 episodes—amplifying diverse voices on @uoft ‘s campus every step of the way.

You can join TFA’s broadcast IN PERSON tonight for an International Potluck being held from 5:30-8pm at @ciut895fm in Hart House. It’s located on the third floor at 7 Hart House Circle.

TFA also desperately needs student volunteers to keep the show running for the next season. Upcoming shows include Pakistan with @razzaknooraniofficial , Bolivia with @itzaldut , and Zambia with @nessaopokuu of @utscasa .

So tune in tonight for TFA’s 60th broadcast on @ciut895fm .

Boy, would you look at all the places Tracks From Abroad’s TTC card has been! And, like before, the 3x3 grid makes us bump the 10th episode of season 5 onto the next page. Last but not least for the UAE with Youssef.

This week’s show is a retrospective of season 5—the best interview moments with music from several different countries. You'll hear guests including @youssefhks @lateef_johar_baloch @andrej.askovic @leunam.m.m @basharmuradofficial @phattal3000 @iamlanabailey and @ahmedramzy.03

We’re quite glad that TFA has reached episode 50, and soon we will have new TFA volunteers joining the show to carry us into season 6.

As always, if you would like to get involved on the show as a guest, or if you have questions/comments, email TracksFromAbroad@ciut.fm or hit us up on Instagram @TFA.radio.

Plus, there’s some gaps in that third image, so we’ve got shows in Botswana, Thailand and Peru coming up.

This Serbian episode of Tracks From Abroad features return guest @andrej.askovic and his musician friend @jack.bhogal .

Andrej renewed his Serbian playlist with some new genres like Serbian rap and metal; and we talk about Serb news, Ćevapi, plus where to get free Serbian yogurt in the GTA.

Jack also tells us about his upright bass studies at Humber College, and that time he played Latin music at the @lulalounge on Dundas Street.

The episode also features Canadian tracks by @officialkittie and @aaronintervals and @thereallerxst or @rush .

You can hear the show online any time at TFA.radio on Instagram, or on @ciut895fm 89.5 FM. The show is on Tuesdays at 9pm and Saturday an 8am.

Thanks for listening!
