At 23, I left König Gallery in Berlin to make dinners instead @ephemeraldinner

The gallery did shows with major artists, worked with collectors, took part in Art Basel. Fantastic.
From the outside — it looked like I made it.

But inside, I felt disconnected.
Art was becoming product, status, pressure.
And I was craving something else — something alive.

So I left. No plan. Just a feeling I couldn’t ignore.

At that time, I was obsessed with cooking. I hosted small dinners for artists and friends at my place.

Then one thought clicked:
what if a dinner could be an artwork? Relational aesthetics by Burreaua, Eat Art by Spoerri, social sculpture by Beuyes took over my mind.

Not about food.
About connection. About energy. About people creating something together. Not just vip previews and gallery dinners. Artists engaging with artists. What we used to have according to the art history books, groups alike dada, arte povera, Avantgarde ect

I called my idea Ephemeral Dinner.

No one really understood it at first.

Galleries asked:
“what do we get from this?”

Nothing. Why isn’t nothing good enough?! Why everything- must be way better?

I decided to do it anyway.

I gave myself a deadline:
The dinner and exhibition — August 1. less than a month

No artist. No budget. No space

I went around Berlin asking for support.
Wine shops.Art spaces.Brands.

No after no after no

A friend helped me build a simple website.
I bought plates for 1 euro at a flea market.
All different. I had no choice. This made my creativity flow.

Then suddenly — things started moving.
A conversation. A new sudden friendship @andrejgolder
People who believed.

I found a space. Got a small budget. Drinks

I invited everyone I knew from the art world

20 people came for dinner.Flew in.
Around 300 for the cocktail.

It happened.One night.The first exhibition by @alexanderskorobogatov

And suddenly —everyone was talking about it.
Ephemeral Dinner was born
Later came museums, press, commissions

But the real thing was this:

I didn’t wait until it made sense.
I just followed the idea. I believed it was needed in the art world game.
♾️grateful to everyone who was involved #ephemeraldinner #fiac
