Magdalena Bay Sardine Run — Baja California Sur 🌊

Every fall we head to the Pacific side of Baja for one of our favorite expeditions.

The sardine run is famous for striped marlin hunting bait balls, but Magdalena Bay is about much more than marlin. Whales, dolphins, sea lions, rays, sharks, orcas, seabirds — you never really know what the Pacific will bring.

We spend three full days on the water with local captains who know these waters, keeping the group small — maximum 6 guests.

There is also a big learning side to the expedition. We talk about the wildlife, their behavior and biology, how to approach them responsibly, and underwater photography — from camera settings to getting better shots in fast-moving situations. Plus plenty of freediving tips and guidance from Carlos and Petra.

You don’t need to be a freediver to join us. Freedivers and confident snorkelers are both welcome.

And then there is the other side of Mag Bay — the dunes, the local fishing community, good food, margaritas and the people you share it all with.

Detrás de cada gran resultado hay una historia de esfuerzo, constancia y decisiones personales. La historia de @mariaverocordova es un ejemplo de ello.
Como madre de dos niñas, dio sus primeros pasos en la apnea realizando un curso básico con el instructor FGC Internacional Marcelo Sampedro @humanum.aquatic . Más adelante continuó su preparación en el Club de @apneaguayaquil junto al instructor FGC Juan Roldán y posteriormente profundizó sus conocimientos participando en un taller avanzado de respiración con Antonio Del Duca @elapneista y estudiando su libro.
Sin embargo, el verdadero mérito de su extraordinario crecimiento pertenece a ella. Fueron incontables horas de entrenamiento, disciplina, sacrificio y determinación las que la llevaron a abrirse camino hasta convertirse en una de las atletas más destacadas del continente, estableciendo récords panamericanos y continentales y dejando el nombre de Ecuador en lo más alto de la apnea.
En ese camino también ha contado con el apoyo constante de su esposo y coach, @davichoh , con quien más adelante decidió graduarse como instructora FGC Internacional, demostrando que nunca se deja de aprender ni de crecer.
En FGC nos sentimos orgullosos de haber formado parte de una etapa de su formación, pero celebramos, sobre todo, que sus logros sean el reflejo de su carácter, su perseverancia y su incansable compromiso con la excelencia. Su historia nos recuerda que las herramientas pueden abrir puertas, pero es la voluntad de cada persona la que decide hasta dónde llegar.
Felicitamos a Maríavero, a David a @fedasub y a todos sus familiares por este nuevo récord continental y por seguir inspirando a la comunidad de apnea en Ecuador y en toda América. 🇪🇨 #apnea #Freediving

One swam right in between the dive lines!! 🤯

We were visited by 5 beautiful wahoo on yesterday’s freediving trip off Palm Beach.

Wahoo are one of the fastest fish in the ocean, capable of reaching speeds of nearly 50 mph. Built like torpedoes, they’re powerful open-ocean predators that spend much of their lives roaming the blue water offshore.
