🖼 "Journey" by Andres Vosu, part of our recent exhibition Propeller 30!

"I became a Propeller Member in 2008. All Propeller’s members were so friendly and talented. They ran the Gallery and I followed, trying to learn how to become useful to the gallery and its artists.

Propeller and its members are resilient too. Joseph led in Propeller’s survival, when there was the need to move to Abell. When the Pandemic hit, Ruth and team, made the gallery more resilient, when they not only made Propeller a virtual gallery for the time period of its mandated shutdown, but when Ruth created Propeller Gallery’s future online presence. Peter and Susan and their team, saved the gallery, by finding the way to purchase our gallery with Artscape financial default.

Through all my 18 years of membership, deep gratitude comes to mind, for the members I have met and the fortune given to me to exhibit art that the universe has allowed me to create." — Andres Vosu.

✨️We are still overjoyed at the turnout from Saturday's Opening Reception! Here is a sample of photos taken from the event, we'll be posting the full album on Facebook shortly (stay tuned!)

We are thrilled to announce that during the event we were presented a Certificate of Recognition from the Legislative Assembly of Ontario issued by MPP Alexa Gilmour,Parkdale-Highpark! We are incredibly honoured by this recognition, thank you so much!

We also wanted to take a moment to thank our speakers, coordinators, staff, designers, members, and alumni for making this milestone a reality! It takes a village to celebrate 30 years and we are incredibly lucky to have a strong member and alumni network to work with!

Lastly, we cannot sign off for the night without highlighting our speakers, whose stories resonated with all of us during the event!

🖼 HangingAround, TheKing'sEggs, and Cruxifix by Andres Vosu, part of his current exhibition Corrugation Reformulation

Corrugation Reformulation was created due to my ongoing experimentation with corrugated cardboard.

My previous work with corrugated cardboard created mostly 2-dimensional works.

Now, however, I work with this medium in many different ways.

For this gallery show, I produced some works that were three-dimensional.

I became determined to find out exactly how sculptural I could get using this material. A few of these works became more than only about shape and form, as I attempted to add conceptualism.

For other works, I distressed or flattened the corrugations. Also, some works ended up being somewhat brutalist, as I did not apply any paint to them.

Then there were works created using other forms of corrugated cardboard packing materials, which I covered with lots of paint.

Finally, for me, Corrugation Reformulation will continue to be a creative direction to develop further.
