Curious about those little cups you see in PT?🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️

🔵Dry cupping uses suction applied to the skin and is sometimes used as an adjunct to exercise, manual therapy, and other evidence-based treatments.

🔎 What does the evidence say?
Research suggests cupping may provide short-term improvements in pain and function for some musculoskeletal conditions, but the overall evidence is still limited and mixed, and more research is needed to determine true effects.

➡️ What does this mean? - Think of cupping as a complement—not a replacement—for active rehabilitation. It should not be used as a stand-alone treatment.

🙆‍♀️What does this mean for you? - If you’ve had success with cupping in the past and feel that it helps you, that’s great! We can absolutely incorporate it into your plan of care when appropriate. 🙌

At the end of the day, physical therapy should be evidence-informed and patient-centered, combining the best available research with clinical expertise and what works best for you!💙
