To all of the family, friends, alumni, and everyone else who made our success this year possible, we cannot thank each and every one of you enough. Because of your support, we had the incredible opportunity to prove ourselves in Alton, and we built memories that we’ll never forget. We made history as the first Yolos to win games in Alton, and it wouldn’t have been possible without you all.

This team really was special. Despite fighting so many close battles that could have cut our season short, we fought until the very end for each other. Our chemistry, chirping shenanigans, and grit were unmatched and we hope you guys had as much fun watching as we did playing.

Finally, to our graduating class, thank you guys for everything. You all made such a lasting impact on our program and we plan to carry on your legacy.

We’ll be back soon.

The Yolos secured another series win this past weekend against Sac State.

Game 1 came down to the wire. With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th and just one out with the game-winning run on third, Jason Spurgeon came in clutch and worked out of the jam. He continued to shut out the Hornets through 3 total innings pitched to earn pitcher of the week.

After falling just short in game 2, the Yolos were fired up coming into Sunday’s game. They put up 11 runs through just 7 innings, paired with a stellar performance from starting pitcher Andrew Toreja. He shut out his opponent and struck out a career-high of 8 batters through 6 innings pitched. Gabe Schmitt closed it out in the 7th to secure the shutout.

It was a true team victory with every Yolo up and down the lineup contributing offensively. Ben Vaughn had a great series at the plate, going 3-for-6 with 3 runs scored, 3 runs batted in, a double, 2 walks, and a stolen bag.

Finally, a huge shoutout to our 9 seniors: Jacob George, Gabe Schmitt, Henry Crim, Jake “Mega” Medicoff, Blake Dempsey, Adam Harris, Dante Romero, Santiago Garcia, and Elliot Zuidema. We love y’all and we’ll be missing you guys next year.
