.
2025, DECEMBER 26 - There has been a lot of discussion around the Young Lions’ SEA Games Thailand 2025 campaign — and understandably, most of it has centred on performance. But what lingered just as strongly was the narrative about attitude and sportsmanship, after claims that the team “walked off without acknowledging fans”.
.
At Football Association of Singapore’s SEA Games review, it emerged that this may have been a misunderstanding, with the association stating that the players did acknowledge supporters, and that this was clarified in discussions with Singapore National Olympic Council.
.
If that is the case, then this becomes an important point that deserves clearer closure.
.
Because when a criticism is made publicly — especially one that questions professionalism and respect — it carries weight. It shapes perception. And these are still young footballers who already have to wear the results; they shouldn’t also be left carrying a narrative that may no longer be accurate.
.
Accountability remains necessary. Performance needs addressing. But fairness matters too.
.
If the earlier comments on attitude were based on something mis-seen, then it feels only right that the same clarity made privately is also reflected publicly.
.
Clarity doesn’t erase results.
But it protects reputation.
And for young athletes, that matters.

19 year old Andrew Aw was given a daunting task as he filled in for Van Huizen , who was out with a suspension.

He was given his first Afc Cup start in his career , & also only his 2nd start this season , but the way he played against Kl City you'd think he's a regular starter.

At the start of the game , he was already showing promise on the right flank , bringing the ball forward , however it ended with a wayward cross. But cleary it didn't faze him at all , as for the rest of the game , not only did he get an assist after that 𝙬𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙙 cross to Boris , but he was solid defensively as well.

One Main concern was " is he really physically ready for first team football ? " Well , despite his size , he held his own throughout.

May more opportunities come for him 🙌

So proud of you , Andy 💛
