POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

To mark National Adoption Week, and 100 years of the 1926 Adoption Act, celebrity hairdresser and Coram Kidscape ambassador Andrew Barton has shared his adoption story with us.

Andrew, who was adopted at three months old in 1967, says: "On the street where we lived there were three other neighbours who had adopted children of our age. So adoption wasn’t an unusual thing for us. It probably normalised it for my Mum and Dad as well.

"Adoption is absolutely central to who I am. My Mum has given me a great faith and belief in the power of nurture. I’m so proud of all that I’ve achieved and being adopted gave me the security to build the life I have."

Thank you to Andrew for sharing your story with us and for your ongoing support.

❤️ FAMILY ISN’T ALWAYS ABOUT BLOOD. SOMETIMES IT’S ABOUT LOVE, CHOICE AND BELONGING. ❤️

As Andrew Barton’s agent, I’ve had the privilege of getting to know not just the extraordinary celebrity hairstylist and television personality that everyone recognises, but the man behind the public image.

Andrew’s own adoption story is incredibly moving, and it’s something he speaks about with enormous honesty, warmth and pride.

Seeing stories of wonderful people who open their hearts and homes to children through adoption always touches me deeply.Because every child deserves to feel safe, cherished and loved for exactly who they are. ❤️

💗 💕 I SPEND MONEY ON MY HAIR COLOUR… SO WHY SHOULD I LET IT FADE SO QUICKLY? 💕

Girls, getting that perfect hair colour is one thing, but maintaining it is a completely different story! 💇‍♀️✨

I’ve always believed that coloured hair needs a little extra love, and that’s why I picked Andrew Barton London – Protect My Colour Shampoo. 💗

What caught my attention wasn’t just its beautiful packaging, but the ingredients!

✨ Moroccan Argan Oil – For softness, shine and smoother-looking hair.

✨ Vitamin E – Antioxidant care for your hair.

✨ Soy Protein – Helps improve the feel and manageability of colour-treated hair.

✨ Pro-Vitamin B5 – Helps keep hair feeling moisturised.

✨ UV Filter – Designed to help protect hair colour from sunlight-related fading.

And another lovely bonus? It’s labelled vegan and cruelty-free! 🌸Because beautiful hair colour isn’t just about the salon appointment… it’s about how you care for it afterwards! 💕

💬 Tell me, girlies — does your hair colour fade too quickly?

Would you try this shampoo?

Save this post for your next haircare shopping trip! 💗

👏 BRAVO FOR SHINING A LIGHT ON BRITISH HAIRDRESSING! ✂️❤️

As someone who has dedicated over 40 years of my life to the wonderful world of hairdressing, it’s fabulous to see Kemi Badenoch visiting a hair salon and recognising just how important our industry is to communities across Britain.

Let me be clear, this isn’t a political comment from me, nor is it about supporting any particular political party. It’s simply about recognising that one of our politicians has taken the time to listen to our industry, acknowledge the challenges we’re facing and shine a much-needed spotlight on them. And for that, I’m grateful.

A hair salon is so much more than somewhere to get your hair cut.

It’s a place where friendships are made, confidence is restored, stories are shared and people leave feeling better about themselves. For so many, their hairdresser is a trusted friend, a listening ear and sometimes even a lifeline.

But our incredible industry is facing some of the toughest financial challenges I have witnessed in my career.

Rising business costs, energy bills, employment costs and the pressures on our high streets are hitting salons incredibly hard. Behind every salon door are passionate, hardworking professionals, apprentices and small business owners fighting to keep their doors open.

Hairdressing is not simply about looking good. It’s about feeling good, mental wellbeing, community, employment and opportunity.

Through my work with colleges, young people and our ABLE education programme, I see first-hand just how life-changing a career in hairdressing can be.

We must protect that future.

So whichever political party you support, I hope we can all agree that our wonderful hairdressing industry deserves to be listened to, supported and celebrated.

Recognition is a wonderful start. Now let’s hope it leads to meaningful action.

With love to everyone working so hard in our amazing industry. ❤️✂️

✨ CELEBRITY FRIDAY ✨

Nicole Kidman looked utterly beautiful at the 2026 Emmys, wearing a soft, glamorous updo that was perfectly suited to the red carpet.

What makes this hairstyle so successful is its beautiful simplicity. The relaxed shape, airy fringe and delicate face-framing tendrils soften Nicole’s features, while the gentle height gives the look elegance without making it feel overly styled.

For me, less is always more particularly when creating red-carpet hair for a mature woman. The right hairstyle should never overpower her; it should enhance her natural beauty and allow her confidence to shine through.

Nicole’s look is polished, feminine and effortlessly glamorous. A wonderful example of the woman wearing the hairstyle, rather than the hairstyle wearing the woman.

What do you think of Nicole’s red-carpet look?

What a fabulous launch for ABLE – Andrew Barton London Education at The City of Liverpool College! ✂️✨

It was wonderful to see ABLE officially welcomed into the college and, most importantly, to meet the next generation of talented young hairdressers beginning their journey into this incredible industry.

Created by award-winning celebrity hairdresser and educator Andrew Barton, ABLE brings an added layer of industry inspiration and real-world experience to students alongside their existing hairdressing qualifications — connecting what they learn in the classroom with the realities, opportunities and excitement of a professional career.

Andrew has spent four decades at the forefront of British hairdressing, from the salon floor to becoming British Hairdresser of the Year, working in television, fashion, education and with some of the biggest names in the industry. Now ABLE gives him the opportunity to pass that experience on and help inspire students to think BIG about where their skills could take them.

Hairdressing can open so many doors — salon careers, session styling, fashion, television, education, entrepreneurship, product development and beyond.

A huge thank you to The City of Liverpool College for such a warm welcome and for sharing Andrew’s passion for inspiring and supporting the hairdressers of the future.

The future of hairdressing starts with the next generation — and we can’t wait to see where they go. ❤️
