POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Motive Archive documents the cars, people, and experiences that bring automotive culture to life. This story follows the journey from Chicago to Montana for the F.A.T. Ice Race, capturing the roadside stops, unexpected moments, and people along the way.

The car chosen for the journey: a Keen Project Safari 911. Created by racing driver Leh Keen, these builds reimagine the classic Porsche 911 with raised suspension, all-terrain tires, and modifications for life beyond the pavement.

Before the first mile, the Safari 911 got a look of its own, designed by none other than @glen.cordle and installed by @broccoli.ink . Sweeping red, ice blue, and deep navy graphics flow across the white body, with Motive Archive and F.A.T. Ice Race lettering tying the design to the journey.

The first chance to put the Safari 911 to the test came on a frozen lake in Minnesota. Motive Archive met up with the car’s owner, Allan Thom, friends at @311rs , and Leh Keen for a day on the ice.

Leaving Minnesota’s ice behind, the journey continued toward Wall, South Dakota, and warmer weather. Along the way, a buffalo overlook gave the crew a reason to pull over and get the cameras out.

With the Safari 911 in the foreground and buffalo roaming beyond it, the stop became another chance to capture the car in the landscape it was traveling through. An unplanned scene worth slowing down for.

The drive through South Dakota’s Badlands brought some of the best views of the entire trip. Winding roads, layered rock formations, and open stretches of landscape made this a place to take our time.

Motive Archive captured the Safari 911 on the move, mixing rolling shots with wider views that set the scene. The car was part of the story, but here, the surroundings deserved just as much attention.

After the miles from Chicago, the journey finally reached Big Sky, Montana. The Big Sky Cars and Coffee offered a first taste of the weekend ahead, with an impressive mix of cars gathering against the mountain backdrop.

Behind the F.A.T. Ice Race is Ferdi Porsche, whose vision brings automotive culture and racing on ice together. The event gathers remarkable cars and the people passionate about them, with Mo

Our tour is coming to an end—at least until the big event on August 22. And there’s no better place for our final tour stop than Road America, alongside everyone at Siebkens Resort (@siebkensresort). All the creators behind Off The Map will be joining us for this one: Autoarts (@autoarts.co), Motive Archive (@motive_archive), Lowend Garage (@lowendgaragechicago), and Odometer Publishing (@odometer.pub).

Saturday, if you’re at the WeatherTech Vintage Weekend with Brian Redman, stop by Siebkens’ Stop-Inn Tavern and say hello. We’ll be signing copies of Off The Map. There will also be a special appearance by the Motive Archive Keen Safari, along with its featured Check26 poster by JC Rivera.

To mark the occasion, Autoarts designed a limited-edition tee featuring a 1952 photo by Phil Nesius of a Porsche America Roadster (540) during the circuit’s final years on public roads.

All Summer Vintage images are by Off The Map co-author and photographer Michael Bene (@lets.drive.312). Michael holds the distinction of being the only photographer to have shot every Checkeditout.

Looking back at some of our favorite moments from last year’s Road America Vintage Weekend as we count down to this year’s event. We can’t wait to get back to the track, see familiar faces, and make more memories.

The difference between an average sale price and a record setting price depends on more than just the car. In a sea of cars and online noise a great presentation matters now more than ever. Take a look at what goes into our Auction Representation service.

Swipe through to see a break down of what goes into a record sale like this 1986 Audi UR Quattro we recently sold on BaT for $120,000

A thorough inspection upon the vehicles arrival allows us to ensure any flaws or minor mechanical needs are well documented and sorted prior to the auction. Here we check on things like tire date codes, service records, paint meter readings, and more while logging the data into our Motive OS app.

Next up is a complete comprehensive detail of the vehicle where we assure the new owner is going to receive their new purchase as clean as possible.

From there it is moved into our in house production studio where the media process begins. We develop a marketing plan around the vehicle to not only maximize visibility, but to make sure the right eyeballs are captured. Here our goal is to showcase the vehicle in the best and most honest way possible, we do a full indoor and outdoor photo and video shoot along with cold start, interior and exterior driving videos, and more.

A car’s history matters when it’s time to sell a vehicle, the difference between a well documented vehicle and one with no service history at all could be 6 figures.
We scan all documents into our Motive OS software. If any interested parties would like to see certain documents we can share them easily via private link. During this time we dive into researching the vehicle to find any more documents and history that can aide in telling the vehicles story.

We are happy to be a Local Partner on Bring a Trailer as well as a Preferred vendor on Cars & Bids. We work with their team of specialists to come up with an appropriate reserve to keep all parties happy.

Throughout the 7 or 10 day auction process our team will monitor the listing, answer any questions or comments promptly and arrange any extra requests that may come through. During this time the vehicle is stored at our facility

All the thanks to you, and your tireless support of our strange lil experiment that you have helped conjure over 13 years back. We count ourselves as some of the luckiest peeps to be included in so many of your lives, we seriously cannot do this thing without you (nor would we want to).

We hope you are as excited as we are for the anniversary Supper Club celebration tomorrow night. If you got tickets, doors are at 6:30 food will start rolling out at 7. This one is completely sold out but we are throwing down again in July for a Sake and Snacks situation to continue the celebrations of our efforts to keep it weird on these streets O' #rogerswater

After being a ghost for 24 years, I found one of the most talked-about missing Ferraris of the modern era. For over a decade, @johntemerian @wearecurated has been chasing Chassis 10817, a 1997 Ferrari 550 Maranello that belonged to Michael Jordan. The very car that he drove to secure his fifth NBA Championship with the Chicago Bulls; The very car that would inspire the Jordan 14 and upcoming Jordan 4014 shoes.

When I asked John to give me his hardest-to-find “ghost cars”—cars that have been missing from the public eye entirely, with no updates, no sightings, no service records or anything—this was at the top, if not number one entirely. And It’s not hard to understand why there are so many articles and so much lore about this car—MJ himself put about 6,400 miles on it. After being traded in 2002, the car became the subject of countless rumors, alleged sightings and years of speculation in the Ferrari world. A significant number of people were trying to trace this car down, and I’m extremely grateful that I was able to bring it back to the public eye after so many years. It had been missing for almost as long as I have been alive.

Once purchased, it was shipped to Chicago where we were extremely lucky to get the photoshoot of a lifetime—Michael Jordan’s Ferrari at his iconic “23” mansion in Highland Park. We then spent the weekend getting amazing driving shots, sunrise photos, pics outside of the United Center stadium…just taking it all around Chicago, and thankfully it ran extremely well. To be a part of that was surreal and I can’t thank the Curated team enough.

I’ve been getting a lot of DMs about it, but @wearecurated has many things in the works for this car, including a video coming out about the story. Let’s just say it required boots on the ground across the country and an excellent but risky approach. It was amazing meeting so many great people from the Curated team as well as making some new photographer friends in Chicago. Stay tuned for the full story and more unbelievable unicorns that I have in the works.
