On a clip of a film that I wrote, directed, cast, acted in, marketed, and traveled to multiple countries for. A film that won Best Comedy at an Oscar Qualifier and so may more around the world. A film with a 100% BiPOC cast, majority diverse crew including those with disabilities.

After 3.5 years, @kurtapantsthefilm is going to be available for you to watch. ❤️ the film took a life on of its own with being shown in 6 countries, took home over two dozen awards including winning Best Comedy at an Oscar qualifying festival, Best Short in LA, Best Comedy in many more, opened doors and conversations I never thought I’d be having, brought together friends and family, new friends, and allowed me to write and directed my first piece.

And cast, produce, market, distribute everything it. I grew as an artist. Because there comes a time in your career when you want to be seen the way you see yourself, tell the stories only you can tell, and have the control of your own career.

Do it. You have no idea where it’s gonna take you. And if you’re everywhere they can’t ignore you. It was one of the best things I’ve done. And I got to include my family in it which makes it that much sweeter.

It’s a story that came post #GeorgeFloyd when I wanted to call in members of the #SouthAsian community to have important conversations. I find the best way to do that is through comedy. Meet this fast paced 5 min rom-com that takes you on a ride with a twist you won’t expect. One thing very important to me was to make sure we do the thing everyone talks about— inclusion. One of the cast was 90+, one belongs to the Blind and Vision Impaired community, 3/5 of the cast and crew are female, our production has represented at least 5 different ethnicities.

It wouldn’t have been possible without every single person who donated, supported, shared, encouraged, mentored, stepped up, crewed for it, produced, family flying in, donating our location, helping with food, coming to screenings, doing hair and makeup, donating outfits, and so much more.

Well that’s just super cool to see! Took portraits of @alexxekubo and then saw that this particular photo was sketched by this awesome artist @mayor_artz , and it took him 550 hours! Such detail.
