I’ve been to a lot of concerts, all with their own set of experiences and takeaways that helped me learn what I like and don’t like. But, the ONE that redefined and influenced my choices today, was this Wim Tapley and the Cannons concert in July 2025.

Here’s what it helped me understand:
1. Connection with the music and artist is much more powerful in smaller spaces. It’s so hard to connect from the nosebleeds.
2. Trust your gut and take a chance if you really want to see someone. I resold my Beyonce tickets to see these guys. Zero regrets. Wim has been my absolute favorite singer-songwriter and guitarist since, so I made the right choice.
3. Live music is more fulfilling when you don’t have to deal with presales, overpriced tickets and added expenses. I drastically shifted my focus to support indie, local and emerging artists after that night. I spend the money on their merch instead.

So, I would like to thank Wim and the Cannons for unknowingly helping me understand what really matters. I’ve gone back to see them multiple times and I always leave with a smile. It’s like filling up your music tank; but, with old friends. I’ve also meet a lot of cool people and artists at concerts; but these guys take top prize. Back then my go-tos were Mary, Well Tequila and Jefe. Go check them out live, stream the music and follow on social media.

Side note: This was the last concert I saw at El Rocko before it closed. We need a venue of this size in Savannah; but, most importantly, people need to support their local independent venues so they don’t close. Show up and support.

For 21 years, euphoria has brought people together around the table, on the dance floor, and everywhere in between. And tomorrow, we get to do it all over again.
