What do cults, trash witches, dragon veterinarians, and angels have in common? Besides being written about in these talented authors books, I have no idea!

Had the best time Friday evening celebrating @author.juniperklein debut novel, Where the Bones Took Root, a YA dark fantasy/romantasy, in conversation with local authors @andy.c.orange @danaswiftbooks and @erinseaotter

What an incredible evening at BookPeople in Austin with my fellow authors @danaswiftbooks @erinseaotter and @andy.c.orange ! I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for y’all joining this event, and for everyone that came out to support!

So much of the publishing process is done from behind a computer screen, so connecting with readers, booksellers, and authors in person feels so surreal, and I loved every minute! ❤️ Can’t wait to do it all again!

Also, seeing my name on a lit marquee was not on my author bucket list, but it was pretty cool, I must say. 😅

I love microtropes and some of them just hit so good. These are little things that when you describe a book to someone else they go "Well, I've never read a book with that before but now I feel like I have a huge hole in my life until I do."

Some of these are more common, like magically forced proximity, others I've only come across one or two books that did it, but would love to see it in more books... Basically all of these are things that absolutely sold me on needing to read the book.

I'll probably do some more of these, becuase there are so many microtropes I love. I didn't even get into "when she shaves him" or "he washes her hair"....

#QOTD - Whats a microtrope you love?

A BIG thank you to those amazing ADs that send me copies of books I’ve worked on. You don’t know how much that means to me! 😭🙏

Publishers please always remember to send copies to the artists you hire 🥺🙏 you can’t imagine how many books with my work on it I end up buying myself because I don’t get sent a copy. 🥲🥲😭

The Latinx Kidlit Book Festival is offering up some juicy conversations amongst our favorite writers of young adult and middle grade. No matter the genre; romance, fantasy or coming of age, these books exemplify the diversity of experiences of our Latine communities!

Movies are better with friends. @andy.c.orange got us all together last night to watch The Love Hypothesis! It was even better the second time around! Had so much fun catching up and chatting about the movie. Both with fellow longtime fans and those new to Ali’s work. Hope we get to do something like this again. Only regret is not taking a photo of Andy’s adorable dogs. Next time
