Week 7: Defensive Impact Players

Week 7 brought fresh energy to the defensive side of the ball as new faces stepped into the spotlight. With district matchups heating up and playoff implications growing, these defenders are peaking at the perfect time — showing growth, grit, and game-changing ability.

Player Spotlight
Easton Moore (Baker):
In a tough, down-to-the-wire matchup, Moore delivered a clutch performance. He recorded 9 tackles, 2 sacks, and a forced fumble, helping the Gators remain undefeated. His relentless motor and physicality continue to anchor Baker’s defense.

Darius Murphy (Booker T. Washington):
Murphy was a one-man wrecking crew. The hard-hitting linebacker posted 14 tackles, including 7 tackles for loss, along with a sack and a forced fumble. His aggressive play set the tone for the Wildcats’ defense and showcased his leadership.

Andy Bocchino (Niceville):
Stepping out of his older brother’s shadow, Bocchino made a statement with a breakout performance — tallying 5 tackles and 2 interceptions. His emergence adds another weapon to an already talented Eagles defense.

Shout Outs
Lane Gissett (Catholic): Broke out with 2.5 sacks, constantly applying pressure on the quarterback.

Jacob Bishop (Navarre): Proved his versatility by snagging 2 interceptions in addition to his usual special teams duties.

Noah Renes (Niceville): Disrupted plays all night, finishing with 3 tackles for loss and a sack.

Final Word
When new playmakers emerge, it’s a sign of growth and depth — exactly what coaches want as the season intensifies. These defenders are stepping up at the right time, and their impact will be crucial in the upcoming district battles.
