They say reading is for people who think too much about, I say I read because it gives me the space to think too much and have diverse thoughts. Reading is the safe space for me that allows me to be in my natural element. Reading is my the little gate that opens the emotional gates in me, makes me feel all the kind, that exists. Reading is my leisure and comfort, like shade in scorching heat, like hug in winters, like wind in your face, like that last slice of pizza. Reading is travelling through pages and words. Reading is giving oneself a gift, a gift of enjoying solitude, gift of making friends, gift of feeling what a character feels. Reading is my respite after a tiring hard day when everything feels heavy. Reading is what defines who I am today.💌💗🎀 @the.bookish.epicure and @alazywriter thankyou for tagging for this beautiful #readingis tag. This made me think about how much I love reading and how much it has contributed in shaping my identity today.🧡 Also it was supposed to be a World Book Day post but I wasn't ready to write about it. Inspired by @theurban_reader @books.sunshine.bookworm and @umainthewild  here's my ballot for "The Best Books of the 21st Century." I know that the New York Times did not ask but they're not my faves (as of course they left out my fave book) and so I loved doing this. My Best Books of the 21st Century  The Lord of the Rings - J. R. R. Tolkien Babel - R. F. Kuang Fifth Season - N.K. Jemisin Breast and Eggs - Mieko Kawakami  Klara and the Sun - Kazuo Ishiguro  Arrival - Ted Chiang They Can't Kill Us Until They Kill Us - Hanif Abdurraqib The Covenant of Water - Abraham Verghese  The Spear Cuts Through Water - Simon Jimenez Gideon the Ninth - Tamsyn Muir Bringing it down was rather hard but I think this diversified set deserves a spot on the list.  I love seeing all of the ballots cause just look at how different our perceptions of what we term as best are!  So what's on your list? What's in my totebag? The bookworm edition. I saw a few beautiful fellow bookstagrammers doing it, so I had a rush to do it of course. 1.Totebag – duh, always prepped for a book haul! 2.Current read – top-tier necessity, obviously. 3.Pencil case – gotta annotate those pages with flair. 4.Book tab – capturing lit lines for future fangirling. 5.Lip balm, moisturizer, lip gloss – staying fly for the fictional crush. 6.Mouth freshener – low-key for that fictional character swooning. 7.Body mist – smelling good, 'cause why not flex? 8.Diary – spilling the tea on real-life shit between chapters. 9.Hair clip – curly head struggles, relatable AF. 10.Card holder – cash for emergency book buying urges. 11.E-reader – 'cause one book ain't cutting it. 📚✨ This is a kind of a bookish challenge #whatsinmytotebag and I am tagging in some bookworm cuties @theaestheticbookworm @breathingbooks_95 @literaryreading @sonamnb_reads @andyinbooks
