[ Day 12 ] After all this time I still feel guilty about this.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I DM'ed last summer, I reintroduced my first, now retired character, Koryente the Blue Dragonborn Paladin, as an NPC. The townspeople revered him as a great sailor that protects the capital city from sea creatures and other pirates. Little did they know that it's not really him at all, but rather a bronze lightning dragon that shapeshifted into him and took his identity. The real Koryente is and will never be seen in the campaign.
▪︎
After thinking about it, I feel ready to confess. This was a gesture to move past what the real Koryente was like.
▪︎
Looking back, while I was still new to D&D I was a really bad player who played Koryente in a way that a normal Paladin *shouldn't* act like. As in, oathbreaking, sinful, chaotic, and expressive to say the VERY least. It must have been a nightmare to have me around, and for that I apologize to my old group. And in a way, keeping in mind that my campaign was a direct sequel to my friend's adventure when I played as him, the new Koryente was a subtle form of my apology.
▪︎
I know I'm being heavily self-critical again and that I was dipping my toes into D&D at the time, but I just wanted to write my thoughts to get some closure. I'm proud that he was my first character and that he marks the beginning of my spiral into tabletop games, but I can't ignore the faults that were apparent either. So yeah, anyways, doesn't the #dragon look cool?
