THIS IS MY FIRST IN 41 YEARS!!! Anyone who has ever tried to keep a gift orchid alive understands how hard it is to get them to blossom. I am so freaking excited. #orchid #orchids ids

Southern California proved itself as impossibly beautiful. An assault on the senses. An out of this world, arresting, magical whirlwind plant adventure!

NOT prepared for how amazing this plant and frog shop was. 🌿🤯

I squeezed in a stop at Jungle Box in Phoenix before flying back home recently, thinking an hour would be plenty of time…

Yeah, absolutely not. 😂🌱🐸

From rare tropicals to plants that would look incredible in a vivarium, every corner had me stopping for a closer look. I could have easily spent half the day here—and probably filled another suitcase. 👀🪴

Then don’t get me started on their dart frog collection- wow! I wanted to find my prince in all of them 🥰

One hour before my flight was definitely NOT enough.

Thank you Emily for the warm hospitality 🥰

The heat doesn’t know when to stop! A couple of quick vids I put together of the plants in the greenhouses at Andy’s Orchids from the past two weeks. Hopefully it decides to cool down and stay down soon but in the meantime enjoy these clips of some beautiful plants and a lot of dry moss! #plants #rareplants #orchids #terrarium #nature

The beginning of something new. 🌿

I’ve always been fascinated by plants — not just the whole plant, but the details that are easy to overlook.

I created this page to document the plants, orchids, flowers, and small pieces of the natural world that catch my attention through botanical and macro photography.

Starting with one of my favorites from behind the lens.

After a month of planning, I finally finished my new micro orchid terrarium! A whopping 20 teeny tiny orchids and 6 slow growing non-orchid plants in this 8x8x12 enclosure.

I wanted it to feel like a slice of a cloud forrest. Some of the orchids are barely half an inch big, so I wanted to focus on making the orchids feel large despite their size. Also my first time using clay for the back wall. I'm fairly new at terrarium building, but I'm truly so happy with how this turned out. 🥰🌱🏵

Tomorrow I'll add some isopods to help with cleanup. Springtails already made themselves comfy.

All orchids and plants mosses come from:
@andysorchids
@ecuagenera
@cyancitadel
@order_66_exotics

The mosses come from the etsy seller MiMossHouse.

Sometimes the hardest road-trip decision is choosing what to SKIP. 😂🌿🐸

Last weekend we hit the road with our buddy Arvin @its_allaboutloveandpassion for a little Escondido/San Diego adventure — and we had a serious dilemma:

🦎 Reptile show…
OR
🌿 Spend the day visiting some of our FAVORITE nurseries?

I know, I know… Crazyfrogdivaa SKIPPING a reptile show?! 😱😂 But when the plant obsession hits, it HITS — especially when you’re always hunting for that perfect orchid, bromeliad, tropical treasure, or new plant for the frog penthouses. 🐸🌱✨

So we chose the nursery road trip, and honestly it turned into the perfect day — good friends, lots of laughs, beautiful plants, a little shopping damage 😜 and plenty of inspiration for our next vivarium projects.

And of course, traveling with Arvin made the adventure even more fun. 💚 @its_allaboutloveandpassion

Sometimes the best plans are the ones where you ditch the original plan and just follow the plants. 😂🌿

Reptile show… we’ll catch you next time! 🦎✌️

One last Andy’s Orchids open house post before this weekend! Feel free to attend if you’re in the area and are in the mood to see some amazing orchids and rare plant species in general. The weather has been warm but it’s going to be a beautiful weekend for the Summer open house. If you can’t make it this time, there are open houses seasonally. You can also always try to schedule appointments by calling the nursery but the best time to take take everything in is at the open house events. So be there if you can! #plants #rareplants #orchids #terrarium #nature

Time to say good bye.

🌿

This is my last post on Instagram. I wanted to let everyone know that I've merged my two websites into one new one. The link to khorchid.com still works, but it redirects to my new research website, Compendium Pleurothallidinarum. All of my grow tent information can be found there under a tab named: Plant Culture Info.
