Some moments feel like home.

I think I’ve found a dance family away from home.

I spent the better part of a decade as a dance student in Mumbai, and ever since moving to Canada, it was one of the things I missed the most. Joining @bollywooddanceschool.ca changed that. The moment I stepped on stage after six years, everything came rushing back. The energy, the people, the feeling of belonging. It felt like home all over again.

A huge shoutout to @parthdani_ for putting together this entire show in just five weeks. Before we went on stage, he said something that stayed with me:

“Forget about the audience. This is your time to shine. Don’t worry about making mistakes. All the hard work has led to this moment, so enjoy every second of it.”

Those words calmed all of our nerves. We stopped worrying about perfection and simply danced. Because of that, we created a performance I’ll remember for a very long time.

For the last four months, I’ve been training in the Downtown Intermediate batch at Bollywood Dance School under @pushkarnarsiah and @anshi818 , and I couldn’t have asked for better mentors. They have been absolute gems.

I’ve also found a group of friends in class who are some of the most genuine people I’ve met. We’re constantly pushing each other to grow, cheering each other on, and celebrating every small win together. It’s rare to find people who genuinely want to see you become better, and I’m grateful to have found that here.

A special thank you to @anshi818
During the final part of the performance, when I felt like my body had nothing left to give, I could hear her from the wings shouting, “Go Ashitosh! Go Ashitosh!” Somehow, that gave me another burst of energy, and I went all out for the ending.

It reminded me of something so simple yet so powerful. Sometimes, all someone needs is for another person to believe in them. A few words of encouragement can unlock a version of yourself you didn’t know was still there.

We gave it everything we had, and I’m incredibly proud of what we created together.

Here’s to finding family wherever life takes you, and to finally being back where I feel most alive. On stage. ❤
