Happy International Women’s Day ⁣
⁣
I am grateful for all the women who actively educate me and who help me along my journey to being a more rounded woman. ⁣
⁣
Thank you to all the women who work to dismantle systems that try to stifle our voices. Thank you to all the women who raise their children as independent thinkers. Thank you to the women raising the standard boldly.

Please join us in welcoming Annetta Jackson, @anehtah, to Intersect's growing family!
Annetta has previously volunteered with us on more than one occasion so she is no stranger to us or our work. We are very happy to have her on board to share Caribbean feminist stories through public outreach and photography. If you haven't already, be sure to check out her recent infographic on consent. Get to know Annetta below:
~
"I am many things. I'm a photographer, blogger, activist, attorney-in-waiting; most importantly I am a Caribbean Feminist.

I am a 20-something year old Law Graduate with plans to practice as an attorney in the Eastern Caribbean. I am currently pursuing an LLM at the University of the West of England.

I have combined my academic discipline with my activism as a Law & Policy Co-ordinator at Amplify Caribbean and I was a delegate at the Commonwealth Youth Forum in 2018.

As a young advocate, I have been actively engaged in the UK student movement and student representation and was an executive member of the committee for international students on a national level which lobbied the UK parliament into reintroducing a post-study work visa for students.

I enjoy telling stories through words and images, and in all my creative undertakings, I try to shine a spotlight on cultivating black perspectives, creativity, and womanhood.

In my new role at Intersect, I hope to use my experience to expand the reach of Caribbean feminist issues, stories, and content in a way that is authentic and true to form." #wadadlifeminism🇦🇬

Me & Myself ⁣
⁣
These are the last photos in the series. I decided to challenge myself to see just how realistic I could make these. I am really glad that you have enjoyed them. ⁣
⁣
I am also really happy that many other artists were inspired by the concept and have done their own versions. You are amazingly gifted.

It is important for us to be comfortable with ourselves. It is important for us to love ourselves and be friends with who we see when we look in the mirror. ⁣⁣

How I See Myself
I have always been wary. For so long others have failed to see the full picture of me.
I have come to terms with the fact that how I see myself and how others see me may never truly coincide.
I am a storyteller and I am a woman. I am also many other things and I wear each identity with confidence.
I am a house whose tenant dwells here for a short time.
These are the portraits of a woman who is seeing herself clearly.
