Last week, we were invited to UNC Charlotte, where my husband, Antonio, received the Distinguished Alumni Award for his work designing and building more than 100 off-grid birthing centers across rural DR Congo.

He stood in front of first-year architecture students and humbly shared the story of this work—the challenges, the setbacks, and the realities of trying to build in some of the most difficult and remote places imaginable.

Toward the end, I stepped in because there was one part of the story I needed them to hear.

When we returned to these communities two years ago, we found that 99% of women were now giving birth in the health centers he helped create.

In DR Congo, that means something much bigger than buildings.

It means lives saved.

The room broke into applause.

I am so incredibly proud of you, babe. It’s about time the rest of the world starts applauding your magic, too.

It has been a rough road for us at times. But I’ve come to believe that the greatest destinations are often those last-mile places. The ones few people have the courage or the will to keep going toward. One thing you and I have always agreed on is that every bump in the road has been so worth it.

I have a feeling this is only the beginning.

Can’t wait to see where we go from here. ❤️

And thank you SO SO MUCH to Antonio’s incredible family of friends and colleagues. The love and support that you showed him and us during our stay still has me glowing from the inside. 🌟

Brad and Angie, you’re the best! Thanks for keeping our baby girl!

Mike Clement, we love you!

And thank you to Mimi and Kunky Pop for keeping the kids so we could enjoy a weekend of adulting! 🩵 @stacyjacksonvillerealtor

Welcome home Perla Negra (Black Pearl 🏴‍☠️). I had been telling Antonio that I wanted a chihuahua for, well, years. Then yesterday he was buying pavers at a little shack by the Rasta Bridge and this little beauty came running up to him. He picked her up and instantly fell in love. The paver guy said he could have her. 🎉 There are four more if anybody wants one! I don’t know if she is actually a chihuahua, most likely a tiny Nosaran Beach Mutt, which is even better. Last night we all took turns giving kangaroo care because she cries (a lot) if she isn’t being held. Welcome to the family. We love you Perlita ♥️

We are excited to share that we are back in Nosara, this time to stay, and we are making it our mission to clean the waves. But the journey starts with each of us. Biogardens are a great and affordable way to filter leech fields, so that septic overflow can feed your garden instead of ruin your waves. Book your free consultation at the link in our bio. #cleanwavesforall ♥️ 🏄🏻

One of the great things about losing my job is now I have the time to take great photos of MY life instead others. And what a beautiful back drop the #FloridaKeys make. I will forever be grateful to be a born and bred #floridagirl

Also, just posted the fourth and final video for our Keys Trip (link in bio). Would love your advice - do you like the narrated style in the first two or the more relaxed style with the text overlay in the second two videos? Leave your thoughts in the comments ❤️🙏

I lost my job of eleven years because of the foreign aid cuts. I was devastated. I loved my job. But I also couldn’t help but feel a little bit excited about what comes next for me. I have no idea what that looks like but I am starting here.

Click the link in the bio to see the full video. And if you like what you see, like and subscribe. I am told that if I get 1,000 subscribers I can make a little money off this. That would be super cool. First episode coming soon! In love and magic 💗 Crystal
