A premiere of the 2026 OATM Queer History Project film: OUR SPACE, featuring local performers, placemakers, and pioneers. A filmmaker Q+A, and a complimentary reception.

It lifts me up to share our family’s story and to meet so many wonderful people along the way. I’m learning more and more how powerful it is when women come forward to tell their own stories. It takes courage, honesty, and heart to give voice to what has been lived, carried, and sometimes kept quiet for generations.

There’s a story in every single one of us. In this picture, I’m a child—my young mother on one side, my daddy on the other.

I felt both, and I remember it all. At 10 years old, I knew I would write our family’s story.

We're sure that, like us, you're overwhelmed by the incredible tributes to #Dolly—and by the magnitude of her love, beauty, generosity, empathy, and unwavering support for our LGBTQ+ community.

We wanted to share this story from our interviews that made us smile back when we filmed it, which we recall today. This clip won’t make our final film but captures something essential about '90s Café Tabac. Jon Johnson, a waiter there then, told us this story about #DollyParton, a reflection of her down home humble roots.

And while the upstairs lesbian/queer party roared, anything could be happening downstairs on a typical Café Tabac night. We also love this little glimpse of the company Dolly kept at that dinner table—pretty much everyone being LGBTQ+.

We will always love you Dolly. Thank you for you.
