What a phenomenal evening at the Downtown Cary Park for our 5th Under the Silver Moon lantern parade! Here’s a teeny snippet of the fun.
Some thanks: To everyone who came out to make some magic with us - it was a balmy 70 degrees, there wasn’t a drop of rain, and even the wind held her breath for us.
💖
A great big thank you to all of our incredible performers: One Tribe Rhythms, Caroleeena’s Circle of Joy, the Bulltown Strutters, Oakwood Second Line, the Awesomettes, Street Creature Puppet Collective, and Colorful Waves. You were all amazing!
💖
And of course a massive thank you to our partners, the Town of Cary and the Downtown Cary Park. So proud of our town for bringing so much creativity into our community.
My heart is sparkling with joy and a whole lot of hope. ❤️Thanks to Simone Hayward for some of the photos in this reel!

About a year ago this was made for me by @angeloarnoldart When I first saw it lit up, all I could hear in my head was “what the world needs now, is love, sweet love” and I hear that song and feel that in my heart that every time I see this twinkle. May we all find peace in our hearts.

Oh my, what an incredible night. 💖
This parade was particularly important to me. After being delayed for three weeks, and the fear and doom that have been hanging in the air, I wondered if anyone would come, or what the mood would be.
But it was the most magical, thrilling, joy-filled, and unifying experience I could’ve hoped for, and just the medicine we all needed.
✨
Some heartfelt thanks:
- To everyone who took the time to come to a workshop or make a lantern at home, shone their light, and celebrated our communities.
- To our artists who took the time to make such spectacular creations that filled us with wonder. You are raising the bar every year!
- To Denise Dickens from the Town of Cary, Jennifer Armstrong, and all at the Downtown Cary Park, and everyone who worked so hard to make this event safe including the Teen Council, Cary Police, and all our volunteers.
Massive thanks to the Bulltown Strutters, One Tribe, and Caroleeena’s
Circle of Joy for their superb entertainment. You went above and beyond.
And an extra special thanks to Angelo @angeloarnoldart who kept the wheels turning so smoothly through this year-long process, and every project really. ❤️
Apologies if I’ve forgotten anyone - feeling a little weary today!
✨
I’ll be posting more photos in the coming days but for now enjoy.
✨🌝💛

We’re reeling from two amazing days of lantern-building with a bunch of talented and creative lantern-makers from across North Carolina. Such great camaraderie, problem solving, overcoming of fears, meeting constraints, and we ended the weekend with a room full of incredible light sculptures. Tired and happy 🖤 with @angeloarnoldart

What happened this weekend 🧡
Double the lantern magic this weekend ✨ While I was making beautiful lanterns with our friends at the North Carolina Museum of Art for their December 9th Lantern Walk, Angelo worked with vellum-tower lantern makers at the Cary Arts Center for our 3rd Under the Silver Moon lantern parade on January 23rd. Phew!
Thanks to our lantern fairies, Chris Jensen and Sharon Hill! 💖
