An amazing long weekend back in the Bay Area admiring the redwoods, sipping wine in Sonoma, savoring every tasty meal, and hanging out at a super lowkey street fair that happened to be going on 🏞️🪵🍬🥂😋🌉😈

Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man, drawn around 1490, transformed the ancient Roman architect Vitruvius’s theories of ideal human proportion into one of the most recognizable images of the male body—a figure balanced within the perfect geometry of the circle and square.
I also drew inspiration from artwork used in Larry Townsend’s landmark 1972 The Leatherman’s Handbook, one of the defining texts of gay leather culture and a practical guide to its codes, customs, and sexuality.
In the surrounding design, I played with the circle and square that frame Da Vinci’s original figure, using those geometric divisions to invert sections of the paisley motif and create a shifting interplay between the classical composition and the traditional bandana pattern.
