I’m excited to share my final presentation from the Health Policy & Media Fellowship!

This fellowship challenged me to leverage media, research, education, and advocacy to advance maternal and child health, mental health, and health equity.

Highlights from the past year include:

• 🎙️ Launching the Breaking the Silence Podcast with 37+ episodes.

• 🎓 Becoming an Adjunct Faculty Instructor at Thomas Jefferson University College of Public Health teaching masters courses.

• 🎤 Presenting two statewide policy breakout sessions through Angels Protection Inc. on maternal mental health, youth safety, harm reduction, and underserved populations.

• 🤝 Building and leading a multidisciplinary research team to develop higher education mental health recommendations.

• 🏆 Receiving the 2026 AMCHP Region III Emerging Leader Award and the City of Philadelphia DBHIDS Mark A. Davis Advocacy Award for executive leadership .

• 🇺🇸 Serving as a Research Scholar with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL).

• 💗 Joining Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Zeta Omega Chapter as a new spring 2026 member 💕💚 - One of the Sorority’s pillars are Empower Our Families Mental Health Initiative to promote mental wellness and reduce stigma in underserved communities.

As I move forward, my goal is to expand the impact of the Breaking the Silence Podcast by partnering with colleges and universities to integrate the podcast episodes into academic curriculum , creating an innovative learning resource that bridges public health, health policy, mental health, leadership, and real world practice for students.

I’m incredibly grateful to my mentor, colleagues, and everyone who supported this journey. This fellowship reinforced my commitment to using research, education, policy, and media to create lasting change.

🎥 My final fellowship presentation is attached above. I’d love for you to watch and share your thoughts!

New Mode Unlocked …. 😎💗✨

Before you speak, vote, or advocate — do your research.

Let’s be clear:

The right to education and the right to bear arms are both deeply rooted in American law, policy, and history — but they are often misunderstood, misquoted, and misused in conversations today.

📚 Education
While not explicitly stated in the Constitution as a fundamental right, access to education has been shaped through landmark court decisions and state-level protections. It is a cornerstone of opportunity, equity, and informed citizenship.

⚖️ Second Amendment (Right to Bear Arms)
The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protects an individual’s right to keep and bear arms — but it has also been interpreted through court rulings to allow for certain regulations in the interest of public safety.

What does this mean?
It means nuance matters. Context matters. Facts matter.

Too many people speak loudly without understanding the legal framework behind what they’re defending or opposing.

💭 Before forming an opinion, ask yourself:
• Have I actually read the amendment or case law?
• Do I understand how it’s applied today?
• Am I speaking from facts… or assumptions?

🧠 Knowledge is power — and responsibility.

Let’s normalize being informed before being opinionated.

God is amazing and He always shows out. 🙌🏽✨ Last night was everything! I truly enjoyed the 2025 Self in the City Gala — the energy, the elegance, the purpose behind the night… all of it. 💫

Grateful and humbled to be an award winner this year. 💓 Standing in that room as a 2025 Horizon Youth Award recipient was such a blessing and a reminder to keep walking in purpose.

And listen… that Photo Booth 360 machine was so much fun💃🏽✨

Thank you to SELF Inc. for hosting such a beautiful evening and creating a space where community, impact, and celebration come together.

🎓💗💚 I’m truly honored to be named the 2025 recipient of the Woods-White Family Legacy Scholarship, presented today at the Annual Scholarship Luncheon hosted by the Tau Omega Charitable Trust Fund in partnership with the illustrious ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. – Tau Omega Chapter, based in Harlem, NY.

While I couldn’t be there in person, I invite you to watch this heartfelt video acknowledgment. This scholarship honors women who are dedicated—locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally—to advancing human rights, social justice, and women’s empowerment—principles that shape my daily work in education, advocacy, and service.

Thank you for investing in my journey as I begin my PhD in Public Health at Walden University. Congratulations to all of the amazing scholars being recognized today! 🌸📚 #WoodsWhiteLegacy #TauOmegaAKA #ScholarshipRecipient #BlackWomenInPublicHealth #PhDJourney #ServiceToAllMankind #AlphaKappaAlpha

✨ I’m Honored ✨

I’m so incredibly proud and humbled to share that yesterday on June 6th my nonprofit organization Angels Protection Inc. has been awarded the 2025 Community Grant from The Ivy Legacy Foundation, in partnership with the amazing women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Rho Theta Omega Chapter 💕💚

I was honored to receive the Community Service Award in recognition of my outstanding academic achievement and unwavering dedication to service and leadership. This moment means so much to me, both personally and professionally.

This grant is more than funding—it’s a lifeline. It will directly support our Cribs for Kids Program, which combats Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and maternal mortality in underserved communities. As a mother and public health advocate, this mission is deeply personal to me.

I had the honor of delivering our acceptance speech and made sure to give Dr. Natasha Patterson her flowers for inviting us to be a community partner during the Mother’s Day Weekend event. That moment was full-circle, and the love in the room was powerful. 💐

Special thank you to Tracey A. McLaughlin, Board President of The Legacy Foundation, and Shariah Dixon-Turner, President of the Rho Theta Omega Chapter and Chairman of the Board for The Ivy Legacy Foundation , for your leadership and belief in our work. Your commitment to uplifting communities does not go unnoticed.

I’m excited to continue building with you all as we walk hand-in-hand toward health equity, safe sleep, and generational change. The future of our mothers and babies just got a little brighter. 🌟
