So very very proud of these amazing graduates. @angembarr__ as our studio manager, @meg_cain who holds the record for the most trips for any photography major, @joshualanius with the highest GPA of any photography major ever, @smithkenna_ our marine biologist photographer, @caralineriddle_ our dentist photographer, @izziepolania our outstanding sports photographer, @kiersten.cr2 our traveling photographer, @libby.rominger our educatin, masters havin, picture taken, nine-degrees-in-one-day gettin photographer and @gradymccall who we believe will one day win an oscar…or be homeless, or possibly both. Either way, those boots are also flotation devices so we know he’ll always be safe. Somewhere Boots the Monkey is looking for his shoes. What an outstanding graduating class!! April 11, 2026 was a banner day for the photography program at FHU. We cut the ribbon on the Calendine-Davis Studio, a 6,600 square foot creative space filled with nothing but photography goodness. The crowd was blessed to hear from President David Shannon, Trustee Mrs. Dayla Calendine, senior photography major Angelina Barr and Professor Jud Davis. Located in the space that was formerly the university bookstore, the Studio is filled with state-of-the-art equipment from several brands like @godox_global, @nikonusa provided by @bhphoto and @restorationhardwarenashville to name a few. It boasts a 16 foot wide cyclorama, 27 person classroom, collaboration space, changing and makeup room, digital display wall, art gallery and two glass panel garage doors for natural light photography. In short, it is simply the finest photography facility at any college in the southeast and beyond. We have yet to see its match.

The space was made possible completely by the generous donation of Chad and Dayla Calendine, and their children, Chloe, Logan and Wyatt. Our students, faculty, alumni and families once again extend our gratitude and thanks for this incredible place for students develop their craft and hone their business skills to become profitable photographers.

Where do I even begin! My first year of college is wrapping up and so much has changed. I went from a girl who had Jesus in her heart but ignored EVERY single conviction he gave her to someone who is not only listening to him but is trying to live out the purpose he has for me. I have had a relationship with Christ since I was 14 years old but wasn’t fully pursuing him until I was 17. Some might think, “She probably didn’t know who Christ was” or “How could she have a relationship but not pursue him fully?” This has been something I struggled to answer for years. I was saved at 14 and right after I moved from California to Alabama, a HUGE change! I got into some pretty bad habits when I was just starting high school and clung to them even though I knew and felt Christ’s fulfillment before then. I got more wrapped up in the “YOLO” statement. I know that sounds cheesy but it was my motto for the longest time. I used it to excuse what I was doing even though I knew it was wrong and I knew it was hurting my spirit. I was chasing my own desires knowing that I wouldn’t be sustained. From this time on I was very up and down with my faith, not fully trusting the Lord and the mercies he offers me and the grace he gives me. It wasn’t until this past summer and some long long conversations with the Lord that I finally just gave up my desires and replaced them with his. Now this obviously doesn’t mean I haven’t fallen short because trust me, I definitely have. By God’s grace, he gives us chances that even the World wouldn’t give. That is why understanding why Christ died is so important! God sent his son to die for you, me, and anyone considered not worthy. The Lord is constantly in pursuit of you whether you know it or not. Abide in him and watch him move in your life! It’s not easy but when has life ever been easy, that’s a part of it. The Lord knows this, that’s why we have each other to lean on!!! Wherever you are in your faith, remember that we have a God who cares, so learn His character and build on it because it’ll be the strongest foundation you can fall back on when life gets hard. 🤍✝️🕊️
