In Aug of 2022 I participated in a pitch competition lead by @calasian_chamber and @national.ace where I met some amazing folx @acenextgen. In Oct I spoke at their conference, and knew I had to become an active member of @acenextgen because I immediately loved their vibe, their generosity, and their mindset. I joined the NYC chapter board in Jan of this year and am heading the women’s initiative chair for NYC. This past weekend I had the incredible opportunity to go to their leadership retreat in Sonoma CA.

As a mixed Asian, I am often worried I won’t be seen as “Asian enough” I worry I will be seen as “taking up space” in an API setting and I dread the constant “what are you?” question, which then leads to the “omg you don’t look Japanese” statement. I DID NOT ONCE experience this over the weekend. Some of these incredible members I had never met before, and they never once made me feel less Asian. For one of the first times in my life, I feel accepted by an API organization, I feel seen, I feel heard, and I feel validated. I feel like we all are working towards a bigger goal of unity, abundance, and a safe space to be.

I am so thankful to all these incredible folx. Thank you for all that you do, and thank you for the authentic conversations and the laughter. I miss you all already and can’t wait to see you all again later this year! 💜 PS I’m sorry I couldn’t tag everyone!
