A few months ago, @angusmcintyre came down from Glasgow to speak to me about @loopsessionsldn.

He was working on a BBC Radio 3 programme about loops in music. We had a chat and I played some stuff on my SP-303 sampler in one of the @aajamusic studios.

'A Circular History of the Loop' is finished and it's being broadcast tomorrow at 7pm GMT. It sounds really interesting, read about it on the link in my bio. I'm excited to hear it, hope some of you can tune in too ✌️

#2016… the year of my most bonkers job, making a 19-part musical genre arts doc series while knowing very little about music. Since when did that ever stop a true professional??!!
.
Fortunately some great people were on hand to advise me, along the lines of, “if you’re making an episode about genre X, these are the 20 tracks you simply must include, and you just have to book these names, A, B, C and D!” Among the problems we overcame were the fairly low budget - a budget that would probably now seem luxurious - plus we had to shoot all the interviews in four weeks, and cut the 19 programmes in 12 weeks. It was crazy but brilliant, working with an amazing team to pull off this daring assignment!
.
Glam rock legend Noddy Holder was the narrator, genial and generous, full of praise for the scripts. Often he would speak up from the booth with comments like, “I’m learning so much I had no idea about!” We filmed with the likes of Billy Bragg, Stock Aitken and Waterman, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Toyah Willcox, Gary Numan, Rick Wakeman, Glen Matlock, Marilyn, Paul Oakenfold, Toni Basil, Pete Burns, Trevor Horn and Annie Nightingale, to name just a few. Brilliant bookings made by @yootha_fender. Poor Pete Burns died just a few months after transmission that summer.
.
Making this series introduced me to some fab new friends, many of whom I’m still in touch with. It was an unforgettable six months!
.
Sadly the series fell off Sky Arts after five years, once all the archive clearances had expired. But it lives on in a usb stick in my pocket!
