Last week at Art is Home ✨

For the Landelijke Actieweek tegen Dakloosheid (National Week of Action Against Homelessness), we took our Frens table outside, shared the petition and made action stickers. Keep an eye out for them around the city 👀 And don’t miss what @publicfood.mensamensa made for the occasion.

We also kicked off a new series of ceramics and filmmaking workshops with @stichtingmano for refugees and asylum seekers 🤝

In our Thursday takeover workshop with @xplizix , we experimented with new painting and printing techniques 🎨

The Listening Hands – Exploring Intuition Through Body & Clay

Guided by Potheads Ceramics & GeorgiYogi

The invitation:
✨ We invite you to explore creativity through intuition in an immersive 4-hour journey to slow down, to listen, and to allow forms to emerge—through the body in movement, and through the clay in your hands.
In the beginning, Georgi will guide a Yoga practice to wind down and connect with your body.
We will have time to share and reflect with each other during lunch and then move to the work table where Ani will introduce the Intuitive Clay method.
Together, we will create a space to let the clay in our hands reveal forms you never planned.
By the end, you will have not only a sculpture, but also the experience of creating without expectations—of listening to what wanted to be born.

Hey oh
This post is about celebrating 2023, the best year of my adult life without a doubt, but before celebrating moments of it I want to first share with you the why. 2023 was the year of change. First there was one change that led me to transform my life. This year I finally connected with myself. I stopped pushing my emotions and thoughts down. I started prioritising my self and my mental well-being.
To be honest it wasn’t a willing choice. Late in 2022 I was a mess, and that led me to experience a breakdown that forced me for once to wake up and face reality. Soon after that I started going to therapy, which was one of the best decisions of my life. I was ready to break the wrong patterns, the issues that I carry and there was a person ready to help me do that. In parallel, I started reading books that were a source of new ideas and approaches in life. Later in the year I also dived into meditation and the practise of being conscious in every day life. These tools enabled me to start living for myself and to be unapologetically me while doing so, in all my relationships and connections in life, my parents, my existing friends and whoever else I crossed paths with.
While writing all this, I get reminded about the work that I did this year, but to be honest while doing it, it didn’t feel like work. Fixing issues and improving myself, felt liberating. The issues that I dealt with are not that important, because they are not really unique. But while I was bottling shit up, they felt unique and I felt alone. Once I started connecting and talking to people, everything became easier. So if you are feeling like I was, you are not alone and people are willing to listen to you. If your friends are not, then they shouldn’t remain your friends.
Thanks to my amazing girlfriend who was the person that showed me that people cared, thanks to friends and family that were with me during this journey and embraced my new approach on things. Thanks to the new people in my life for all the nice moments we have shared. I can’t wait to continue sharing my life with all of you :)

De afgelopen jaren heb ik mezelf 17x met veel plezier vrijwillig ingezet als gast curator voor @deaanschouw . Dit zijn de laatste 10 allerlaatste kunstenaars die ik hier de afgelopen tijd presenteerde! :)

🐣 Volgende week donderdag, met Koningsdag, ben ik zelf aan de beurt. Opening om 20:30, komt dat zien 👀

Daarna gaat de Aanschouw natuurlijk nog een paar maanden verder met tal van andere gastcuratoren tot de Schouw helaas gesloopt/verbouwd wordt en gaan Jaap en Olivier de Aanschouw vervolgen in een bakfiets. 🚴‍♀️

De andere 7 kunstenaars die ik presenteerde staan ergens verderop in de feed, doeidoei 😘
