🚣‍♀️💙 Meet the Engaged Athlete Fellows!
Today, we’re spotlighting Anika Roche, a student-athlete on the UCLA Rowing team.

For Anika, civic engagement has been a lifelong passion—and being an Engaged Athlete Fellow has given her the tools, resources, and community to turn that passion into action. Through the fellowship, she’s educating her peers about their civic duties, organizing events on campus, and leading efforts that strengthen civic participation at UCLA and beyond.

Anika’s year-long project focuses on expanding California’s 2019 Student Civic and Voter Empowerment Act (AB 963) to include the University of California campuses. By advocating for this expansion, she’s helping ensure that student-athletes and students across the UC system have meaningful access to civic engagement programming and the opportunity to make their voices heard. Rooted in education, advocacy, and leadership, Anika’s work demonstrates the power of athletes to drive lasting civic impact—far beyond the water. 🌊📚✨
