COMING TO THE SANCTUARY!
91.3 WYEP + Hellbender Vinyl Presents:

Animal Scream

"Midnight Summer" Vinyl Release & Masquerade Dance Party

~ Animal Scream is the Pittsburgh Doom Pop Project of songwriter/producer Chad Monticue, accompanied by Caleb Pogyor, Eli Weidman & Bobby Taylor exploring psych-pop psychedelia that’s dark, sweet & cinematic, a noir-tinted sound in thrall to the eternal groove.

The New LP MIDNIGHT SUMMER: Is a colorful mixtape of doomy beach bops, dream-soaked trembling guitars, hip-shaking dark boogies, and moody LoFi night-driving music dissolved into an unnerving beautiful unknown. Midnight Summer CDS/CASSETTES & VINYL will be available at the show. ~

Summmmr dump! So many great experiences this beautiful summer. Playing synth for @animalscream in Brooklyn. So many hikes and river floats. It’s definitely been a big ol blessing of seasonal proportions. Very grateful guy here.

The second of three Animal Scream music videos I had the pleasure of taking photos on this past summer. “Sunlight/Sunset” was released this week – I’ll post the link in my stories! Such a visual wonderland brought to life by a great team of people.
These are mostly digital with some 35mm shots towards the end.

The Tortoise of Rest and Relaxation has visited you on this Labor Day. Hopefully you have the day off and can enjoy yourself. Here’s a couple things:

Still riding high after a beautiful sold out (and then some) show for @lilliegazer’s album at Baum Baum Club. What a special night. Any folks who were turned away, keep an eye out for the next Pgh gig in Oct.

On Sept 11th, @animalscream’s latest album Midnight Summer drops. Most of the drums on the record were programmed by Chad, but I came in near the end of the process and put a few live grooves and sound effect things on top for added colour. I’ll be playing everything during the upcoming live sets. The band will be up at Brooklyn Music Kitchen same day as the release. September 11th…. 🤨

September 13th I’m playing an improvised set with @alvinrowpgh at Gov Center. No idea what’s going to happen because it will be our very first time playing together, ever. To me that’s extremely fun. I’m a big fan of Spencer’s work and excited to work it out on stage.

Sept 14th, Forest Counties heads up to @natecampisi’s camp in Allegheny National Forest for some proper recording. Also looking forward to swimming and diving into Campisi’s VHS collection.

Sept 16th I’ll be part of @nicholas_krolak’s release show at @golittlegiant along with Mike Hugo and @adambleilmusic. Really nice tunes.

Sept 17th is House Music at Tough Pill (Gov Center). @david.bernabo and I have our second album in the tank and it’s weirder and grungier than the first. This performance will most likely reflect that.

Sept 24th is one I’m really, really excited for. A listening party at @baumbaumclub for Dave’s new Watererer record, Sword Swipe Left Through Helmet. We’ll listen to the record in full, and then House Music + @pjroduta will play some improvised percussion trio stuff. There will be cocktails available for free, of Dave and PJ’s own creation. What more do you need to know.

To end the month, Lillie Gazer and band will do another mini-tour, starting in my hometown and one of the first venues I ever played, @123pleasant. Can’t wait to show them all of the places I got drunk.

I think that might be all for now. Thanks folks.

Eli
